Just checking emails for pizza delivery for the youngest birthday and bam a email from Zavvi for this
After so long waiting for the Blu Ray signature edition last year this was a very nice surprise.

Ordered. Couldn't pass up on this despite owning the Signature edition.
Looks to be a very nice steel for the (in my opinion) second greatest animated movie of all time.

I wouldn't have splashed out on the Korean slipcover edition (which was pricey) if I'd known this was on the horizon

Yes, another of those sleepers that didn't click at the box office but took on new life when the DVD was released.
RE: THE GIFT SET - would seem to me the perfect time (before Christmas) for a re-release but this time include the steelbook instead of the cheap-as-chips Amaray.
One other change could be the Iron Giant himself - actually made of metal . . . instead of plastic . . . even if it articulated less.
It's The Iron Giant not the Plastic Giant for Pete's sake . . .
As the set stands you have to look elsewhere for a decent figurine:-

Yes, I saw that, but at over 2' tall it wouldn't fit in the box
