Here us a slight guide to the way I glossed mine ok here's what I used

A gravity fed spray gun
yvavu2y8.jpg

Then I used some accelerator and clear coat which I use when I spray cars also added is a slight but if thinners I think it's 2 to 1
apy7e8ar.jpg

The steels are wiped over with cleaners I get rid of grime and oil that fingers can lea e and any oils
desuse2y.jpg

Then I spray it in a booth which is heated and has ventilation AND IS HEATED KNOWN AS AN OVEN
Basically it what I use to spray car bits
apuhypa3.jpg

Then spray and leave them to harden at least a day and this will be hard enough to polish to

ysu6egez.jpg

OH I FORGOTTO ADD A PICTURE OF THE HARDENER AND THE FACT I GET ALL KITTED UP LIKE WALTER WHITE FROM BREAKING BAD ....

WELL A BREATHING MASK AND OVERALLS AS THIS STUFF ISNT GOOD FOR BREATHING IN A CONFINED SPACE

Edited for trading

Yes, please lgans :scat:
We need it

This is no rocket science. Here is what I do:

Gloss spray used: Halfords Clear Gloss Lacquer

1. Lay the Steelbook flat

2. Before spraying on the case, ensure that the spray works by testing it on something else, say a cardboard piece or a piece of paper.

3. Spray evenly from a distance of 20~25 cms from left to right top down.

4. If you notice some spillovers on the edges, wipe it out using some ear bud. You can of course reuse the ear bud as long as it lasts. This is to ensure that you don't get any blob like thingy stuck on the edges.

5. Allow 30 minutes for the coat to settle in.

6. If you are not happy with the outcome, repeat steps 2 through 5 but don't go overboard with the coating as too much of anything is not good. I would recommend 3 coats at the maximum.

7. Allow 24~36 hours for the smell to subside.

The spray I use works on even white surfaces unlike the Rustoleum spray which is meant to cause some green/yellow tinge. Please do follow the safety precautions mentioned in the can.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to control the odd dots that may appear after coating which is due to the dust particles in the air. So make sure that the room is clean and is air tight.

Last but not least, do not attempt this if you don't pass the Sobriety Test.Make sure you got a pair of stable hands and enough liquid left in the can.:p

Ok so I went out and got some Laquer Finish.........Man!! What a difference!! The Finish product is more even and way better than the Enamel Finish. Smooth as Factory finish:scat: Also it has a nice Mirror like finish that the Enamel Coat was somewhat lacking.

All of the following were done with Laquer Finish:D

All of these were sprayed within an hour and I'm going to leave them out for 2 days. That way the smell can get cleared. Overall much better product and way better finish than Enamel. Same price for each but Go with Laquer:scat:

Great job Compadre. Yes, lacquer is the way to go. :)

Captain America - Zavvi - Looks gorgeous after glossing. Can be made look even more better with another coat.

Great results on those Ocielz

Howie, looking at Ocielz job on Peter Pan and thinking that some of your fleck finish on the rear would approximate the pixie dust finish that Geek mocked up. Could be good.

Hey buddy, would you mind posting a picture of the product?

Amazing pics you two. I see a lot of people defending quality matte finishes, but I feel they would change their minds when they saw it glossy.

ocielz, what lacquer did you use? Is your technique different with it?

unujumu7.jpg

Same technique as before, 3 coats within 10/15 minute span.

Same as Lgans316 but with a Hair dryer and more coats in between.
I start from the edges and then move to the top. Top to bottom(left and right) and without stopping the spray, bottom to top(left to right again). Heat it all around and repeat 2 more times:scat: Nice Thick coat:D

Amazing what gloss can do to some steels! It brings out the missing Magic from the Disney steels;)
