So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

it is simple.everyone's budget is about the same while the amount of steelbook releases have sky rocketed.there is simply not enough money to go around to get to all the steels.if you only had $200 to spend and there were 5 that you really wanted, that would be $40 for each steelbook that you can afford.
now...since there are so many, there might be 15 titles that you really want.with that same $200,you're not going to be willing to spend anywhere near $40 to get to all the steels that you want.buyers are more selective and there are less bidders as well since they're not willing to go as high because they will not be able to afford the rest of the titles in their wish list.
bottom line, your money is the same while steelbooks are being released almost on a daily basis presently.having said that, collectors are also starting to bypass unique slipcovers when the same exact steelbook is underneath the slipcover for a lot less from another country.the budget just isn't there to be spent...

Thats a real nice way of putting it bud. I guess thats what I was trying to say when I said that our market is "maturing". You can look at the comic hobby to see how things will play out. If theres is demand for steels, there will be more and more supply to satisfy that demand. I'd personally would like to see the number of releases to be 10X or 100X that of what is being release now. I guess some would view this with an extremely negative view, but to me, it tells me that steelbook popularity grown exponentially. Will that kill off the old grails like IM & JR? I don't know, did all these new comics today kill off the old 1940's grails like Batman & Superman? I guess someone can say "reprint". Well, were those Superman & Batman grails never reprinted?

To me, our hobby is way ahead of the comic hobby. There are only 2 real choices if you collect comics. Our little hobby has small, dedicate companies like Blufans, ES, Zavi, Kimchi, to name a few, which produces very limited numbers of steels that are highly collectible. I'm just sitting back enjoying the ride, instead of constantly worrying about all these releases.

I have always said an item remains highly sought after only when hardcore collectors who are willing to spend are after it. Once everyone secures a copy the price fluctuates and somewhat stagnates.

Overall Steelbook collecting has become like a ticking timebomb nowadays.

30 quid = $50 Cdn. If that be true, all I gotta say is "wow". I hope they came with more than 1 disk lol. A FS Disney release with 5 disks is never more than $38, so these people had balls charging what they charged.

Don't forget that's the sale price at FS, regular is sometimes $49

its the us version not futureshop, seller is using someone elses pic

Thank, Flip!

I messaged the seller and he actually confirmed that. I nicely suggested they find a picture of the US version to use otherwise they are going to be dealing with problem resolutions. :D

Eugh. Seeing as it's a HDN exclusive, why not sell it to someone on HDN that missed it? Keep it in the family, so to speak.

Normally my stance would be that it's the owners choice what to do with it but on this occasion I have got to agree with you.

Not a big fan of the release, think the fan slip version is what should have been available as standard - so I am unsuccessfully trying to unload it on the trade thread on here.

But its still available on here so I guess eBay is the best option ?
