So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

I actually think that's about the right price. I've seen some go higher, but I've also seen them sold or traded for less recently. I believe there is a little bit of a craze for them right now which is why there has been a spike in price.

I do believe this will slowly inch its way up in price to where $150 - $175 is the common range for awhile.

Naughty evilBay seller listing an Iron Man 1 steelbook Blu Ray for silly low money... but it turns out to be the DVD steelbook with a bluray inside... and he/she knows the value of IM FS as they have a copy and would only let it go "for good money".

Technically they aren't lying as it *is* a steelbook... but still.... very naughty and underhanded and may get silly high money from someone who is excited and doesn't notice the lack of Blu Ray banner on the picture.

It's quite obvious from the posted picture that it's not the BD steel but the DVD ;)

I think before it's all said and done ill have 5 sets or so.

I really want a set of these but man 8 movies even at original price is $160 (they were $19.99 right, I wonder if they are still in stores and if I can get my sister to pick me up one a week for awhile). My Harry Potter movies are such a mismatched collection and it would be nice to have a complete uniform set. The first 4 is in the original dvd cardboard packaging, then 5 is in a plastic G1 dvd packaging, then 6 I got the g1 FYE exclusive steelbook and then 7 parts 1 and 2 are in blu ray combo g2 packaging.

I see the Harry's go for about $30-35 on ebay individually 30x8 is likely going to run you at least $240-$280 then you got shipping on top of that. I could see it costing around $300 to pick them up separately then you gotta get the case too, so expensive.

I think his markup is only like 2xs what it would cost realistically and 3-4xs retail which isn't that extreme (not like the Assassins Creed which is 19xs retail).

Actually, the first 6 can be bought for $19.99 and the last 2, if you can find them, are at $34.99. The shelf varies in price, anywhere from $20 to $50.

Assassin's Creed is not $19 retail. One has to put a deposit on each Assassin Creed steelbook. Each store varies the deposit required.

based on recent vote, more people hate the banner. So..they might as well buy that steelbook and put a blu-ray disc in there... win/win ..they get a non-banner and a blu-ray discs inside :D

I was saying 19 times retail not $19, the preorder for mine at my Best Buy was $5, so 19x5=95. I didn't know 7 parts 1 and 2 were more expensive so yea that takes the retail of all 8 movies up to $190 and an ebay after market to probably just over $300. The fact that its in pounds does raise the price a bit as the dollar and canadian dollar are pretty much even right now and the pound is like what 1.75.
