So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Just a small bit of a rant. Please delete this if you find it inappropriate.

We all talk about being ripped off from eBayers with overpricing steelbooks. Even on pre-orders for steelbooks that are vastly available.

Check out the hidef steelbook trades thread. It is ridiculous.

Someone is selling pre-orders for The Raid Play.com for £25.00.

Should this sort of thing be banned from this community? Surely!

I also see 9.00 Euro Steelbooks being flogged for £30.00 on this very community! We have to stop this madness.

The reason I posted the rant in this page is because it is happening with Iron Man too. Please guys. We have to get this to stop. I understand we dont control eBay, but we can do something on this very forum about it.

I have Sunny. I knew I was breaking the HI-DEF law, but people have to know the robbery is happening in our own back yard.

I don't want our members paying through the nose, especially from other members.

Shoot me for trying to help guys. I'd give you some steels for free if it meant stopping these people.

All I am saying there is the right thread to discuss these issues about prices high etc. otherwise you will just clog up this thread.

Barry i have just read the trade thread that you are taking about there is nothing in the rules of what people can charge for x steelbook at the end of the day people can choice to buy it or go and find it else where.

The price you are refering to for iron man is still cheaper than ebay prices.:D

I think most people make a mental note of those trying to charge high prices on a forum like this. Most members know that should be left to ebay. I appreciate your enthusiasm to the matter tho Barry .... you're a class act and a wonderful collector. So long as we got guys like you and plenty others on here we'll be ok.

Many collectors here value the friendship, hook ups, and favors here that our members can contribute to one another so they know that by helping out members here they'll get their fair return in the long run. It all goes full circle. It's always nice to know you can call on someone from any Country to get you something and know full well they will be willing to help you because you've done the same in the past for them. :)

Barry i see you bring this up alot, what i dont get is why it keeps you awake at night?, for instance if i pay 14.99 for a steelbook and then i decide to try and sell it for 149.99 isnt that up to me as im the legal owner of the steelbook. Its the buyers who pay this silly money and there happy too otherwise they wouldnt be spending big bucks would they?

P.S im giving an example only, im not buying a steelbook for 14.99 and reselling for 149.99 :hilarious:

I think some people only really get annoyed when they badly want a steelbook but do not want to pay for it as others are selling it for more than what they are prepared to pay.

Thus resulting in frustration.

Yeah i agree as ive been there too, but ive also had to pay the asking price to get it in my collection so it must mean im happy to pay it lol. End of the day if the price isnt right for you then dont buy it :naughty:

The high price BIN are targeted for collectors who desperately want it now. It's all about how long you can take to wait for a decent deal to come or to 'give in' and pay for inflated price.

And this is why I don't sell steelbooks (unless of course they are part of a GB or if I pick up some items for members in here), I'm all about the trades.

I couldn't agree more my friend, and people who know me know why I do all the GB's. I do it so people won't need to buy for silly prices on eBay.

Hell I don't even accept tips anymore, what I do I do it for fun. And people tell me "what about your time and gas". Well it's my choice. Nobody asked me to do it, I'm doing it for the love of the hunt and for the community as a whole. Plus, it gives me a good excuse to go to FS all the time :hilarious: And trust me, that's the best tip of all :)

I only really want to trade too but I find the whole trade subject difficult. I want to try and help people out but there are crazy expectations "swap your FNAC Dark Knight for my (insert crappy steel here)" and when you say no the reaction isn't always the best.

People are quick to slate eBay but as a newcomer to the scene it has helped me build my collection for older steels and I'm glad of that! I will always try on here first but I would have no shame in putting steels up for sale on eBay and let the market decide what it's worth.

Trading is a negotiation, so of course not all the conversations will lead to a positive outcome. But I find them fun, even tho there's some frustration here and there, especially when/if someones offers you an item for a ridiculous amount of steels for example. I just have a good laugh and explain why the trade will never happen :)

And sorry guys for being out of the context but this is an element that touches me personnaly :(

Yes, but can I have your Romeo and Juliet for my open/not mint German HarryPotter 1? ;)

At least the gas is a lot cheaper in the UK :hilarious:
