So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Are people paying this much for Taken?

No, lol, not for £100. It's been going around for £30 - £40. This is one of the few Play.com steels that have really bumped in price. It is most probably due to the anticipation of Taken 2 being released soon.

Mission Impossible 4 Play.com has also bumped in price, but not as profitable as Taken because it was released as £17.99. The same thing applies, with the release of MI 1 - 3, everyone wants to complete their set and the demand has increased for MI 4.

Its like any set of sequels or trilogies, no one really wants an incomplete set and many are completest - it's either the whole lot or none of them :)

I think I sold my copy of Taken for $20 on eBay because I just did not like the steel when I got it. I am beyond surprised that it is 40 pounds. Blimey!

It just goes to show what effect a sequel could have on the value of steels. Oh well. At least I have Iron Man 3 to look forward to. Onwards and upwards!

Cant really stand liars. I usually dont care much for this dude but untrue claims in his description are annoying to justify his asking price:angry::angry::angry:

Btw this is still available at a fraction of the cost on amazon de for EUR 14.97

I can't stand lies in listing either. What I don't get though is that when your looking for a particular steel on eBay you search for it and (hopefully) quite a few come up. Even with those 'embellishments' people will see much cheaper version of this on eBay and (hopefully) go for one of those. I don't understand who he thinks he's kidding by inflating the price of a currently avaliable steel.

Unfortunately, some sellers on Ebay are assuming that new or seasoned traders alike are not reading the forums and or/are completely clueless about certain aspects of a particular title. I encourage you to ask many questions in the particular threads we have here, so you're not accidentally taken for a ride. As Ebay is a separate market place, and many factors create 'hype' and (at times) inflated values for Steelbooks, gain as much info as you can from a variety of sources before you buy. Happy trading! :scat:

Once in a while a BARGAIN pops up. Well, it looks like some greedy mofo hit the jackpot.

That's right, your eyes do not lie to you.

The Dark Knight Fnac Steelbook for $59.81

It doesn't piss me off it sold out. What boils my blood is ONE person decided to buy three copies of the available four. It's freaking obvious the buyer is going to resell them for outrageous prices. I hate these damn scalpers.

Edit: The listing ended Jan 20, 2013 because all four copies sold out quickly.

Could anyone explain why the seller would want to sell at 45 euros? Seems a little dodgy to me.

Anyway, prodigy, if you ever decide to give up (which I hope you would not), would you, in your most reckless moment, contemplate selling your grails at 45 euros? :D

I'm pretty sure the seller is just that, a seller not a Steelbook collector. Judging by his/her purchase history electronics are a major interest.

:hilarious: Im not that disoriented. If I did sell off my collection it would be the price I paid for them.
