So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Where do all these all suddenly come from? lol

The Hubmeister did some homework on the seller. Apparently the seller buy lots in bulk. They already have sold 50 of these Terminators over the past couple of days before the new listing.

As for where they got them from, good question as a Swedish member said these were long gone a couple of years back. Same happened with Predators a few months back that appeared on both Ebay/Play.com.

The price has come down already on this. Was £29.99 when I posted the link and now down to £24.99. Will probably go down even further if there are no takers at the lower price.

It's possible they were purchased when a store went out of business, and he/she just held on to them. Judging by what else they sell, perhaps they didn't even know it was still wanted by collectors and initially underpriced it...not sure...

Agree DB. Definitely someone's bankrupt stock. Too many for one store, maybe a online retailer or chain of stores.

Does make you think what's lying around in places, especially for these steelbooks titles that most of us are craving. :hilarious:

When I asked the seller why they had more or less doubled the price, they said that because the others sold so well they contacted their "supplier" to get more, but they had to pay a higher price to get them. Since this has been OOP for a long time, I smell BS. Why not just admit you're doubling the price because you want more money?

This is quite strange....as said before they are loooong gone over here. I have no idea where he gets them from.

Hi guys, we have members subscribed to the thread and we've gone way beyond the point of this thread( to discuss outrageous prices) found on Ebay. Yes, the Steel doubled but that is only 'crazy' because it was 50% less before, lol. Lets move off this 1 seller please-feel free to discuss more via PM. Thanks all:)

No idea! But most of them only seem to be worth £10-£12, so for me it doesn't seem to be too good of a deal.

The point you are missing is steelbookdirect, the famous ebay seller who bids on every UK steel that he owns, and even bought one off you, is again inflating the auction to £400 to give the 'false' representation of value as I mentioned before.

If he buys this I really have no idea what he is doing. But he has been outbid so I think he is saved.

Aye, he's bidding on/snapping up all the Jack Reacher's at the moment too, was wondering why until I saw his listing on Play selling it for £199.99 :naughty:

here sunny...take a look at this....it solves many questions about JR doesnt it?

Already aware about JR - that's been discussed already. We are talking about 10 x Forest Gump here and loads of other £10 steels lol.

I know SBD has paid over £100 for Jack Reacher already. Fair play to him in the re-selling market. In a sense, he is helping those who have the steels that he is bidding already :)

Not great for those that don't own the steel.

Not only JR, but all the CA, THOR, T4 UK releases as well :naughty:

Well he takes the risk to inflate the prices but if he pays fair enough.

Not the best selling ethics but it works.

It's refreshing, personally, that we are talking about someone else on ebay, SBD, and not Socrates anymore. But that's because he has been de-registered on ebay. Word is, he is setting up his own website, and it will carry ALL the rare steels...most of us will not admit it, but I believe most of us await that to come live with bated breath.

I think SBD is the new UK socrates :)

Shame he isn't on ebay anymore, I did find his sales original is all I can say :hilarious:

Yes sir. It is in the works
