So, we have the "Fake" and "Steelbook Price Drop" thread, but we don't yet have the thread where you post listings with "crazy" prices for Steelbooks. If you see any, post them here and have fun debating. As per forum rules, please remain respectful with each other-one person's "high price", could be another's "deal of a lifetime" score. Enjoy! :scat:

Please keep discussion to Ebay and other retailers, not private sellers.

Love the fact that the auctions states it's a "sticker steelbook" (or could that be poor grammar) and that it's a pre-order for 10th July ready for dispatch by the time the auction ends, apart from the fact the auction has already ended and it's nowhere near the 10th July...

If I were to pre-order something like this I would be worried my purchase would get damaged during transit all the way from Korea, so would be very reluctant to commit to a pre-order like this.

I would wait until the steels are in hand, verify the in-hand pics and description are ok then place the order!

Or just make sure you ordered from Kimchi in the first place and not worry about ebay ;)

I don't think these prices are too low, as much as people's expectations are too high. They all met their retail value, some exceeded it. You're not expecting every single release to hit a home run are you? I guess what you call "low", I call "stabalized". All the "must haves" paid a premium for theirs, now the price came down because they've got theirs. Again, signs that our hobby is maturing. How many comic books can you buy today that will X3 its value on ebay? The comic book market is what I would call a mature market.

If that were the case there wouldnt be a market on eBay for steels! :D I am one of the lucky ones to have this on order from Kimchi thankfully

I'm guessing as a consumer wanting this steel (reprint of an old favourite) you're probably going to want to wait for a confirmed mint steel before running the risk of placing a pre-order with an ebay seller who doesnt have any indication of condition as much as the next man.

Just goes to show how much a acution can vary so quickly on the same item. Auctions are not a good indicator. BIN are a better way to gauge the market because the steelbook world is not the big. Very few sales actually occur on sales of steelbooks compared to other items. Its not a very fluid market. ON any given day the same steel could be 40% difference in price on auctions.

Not too low but below expectations. Almost 75% of them ended at less than cost price and 100% of them at loss for the seller if you take into account PayPal and eBay fees.

The fact is these Steels have dropped in value significantly week after week.

Which one of those you listed sold for less than cost? They all looked like they sold for at least cost to me.

Both Skyfalls, Total recall and Life of PI all sold for under retail prices on those listings. Take of the sellers fees and that's quite a big loss. The prices have been falling on all Steelbooks as of late on ebay.

Some steels have come down in price, not all.

Recent catalogue Asian releases haven't faired too well though.

Those Skyfalls & Life of Pi sold for roughly 23 quids. This translates to roughly $36 Cdn. That seems about right to me. Are steels that much more expensive in the UK? Here I thought they were much cheaper than in Canada. I've seen so many sold for 15 quids or less.

There's not too many rising at the moment, that's for sure. The Asian steels have definatly slumped from what they used to be going for.

I think both Skyfall and life of PI TW were £30 before shipping if I remember rightly, it may even have been slightly more. With shipping on top it can work out at quite a loss. Skyfall was going well at the beginning but has since dropped in value. I'm surprised they haven't maintained at the very least cost value.

30 quid = $50 Cdn. If that be true, all I gotta say is "wow". I hope they came with more than 1 disk lol. A FS Disney release with 5 disks is never more than $38, so these people had balls charging what they charged.

Iron Man 2 Japan ($782). Hard to find:
