AMC Upcoming Original Series: The Walking Dead

AMC Upcoming Original Series: The Walking Dead

AMC has greenlit The Walking Dead as a six-episode series based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The Walking Dead tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back) will portray the lead role of Rick Grimes while actor Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Writer) will portray the character Shane, who worked with Rick in the police department before the zombie disaster. Other cast includes Laurie Holden (The Shield), who plays Andrea, one of two sisters who join the survivors of the zombie plague, Steven Yeun as Glenn, an expert scavenger and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), who plays Rick's wife Lori.

The Walking Dead begins production in June in Atlanta with six, one-hour episodes for season one. The series is set to premiere in October 2010 during AMC Fearfest, the network's annual blockbuster marathon of thriller and horror films. AMC announced development of The Walking Dead in August 2009 and announced the pilot in January of this year.

About the Producers
Robert Kirkman serves as an executive producer on the project and three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) serves as writer, director and executive producer. Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Incredible Hulk), chairman of Valhalla Motion Pictures, serves as Executive Producer. David Alpert from Circle of Confusion serves as Executive Producer. Charles “Chic” Eglee (Dexter, The Shield, Dark Angel) will also serve as Executive Producer, and Jack LoGiudice (Sons of Anarchy, Resurrection Blvd) will serve as Co-Executive Producer.

"AMC strives to make original shows that play like movies and The Walking Dead is a perfect complement to the network’s celebrated movie franchise, Fearfest, which has always been an important destination for our audience," said Charlie Collier, AMC President. "With its depth of story and the remarkable talent attached, The Walking Dead gives us an opportunity to raise the bar significantly within this popular genre, and continue our commitment to being the home of premium programming on basic cable."

"The Walking Dead is that rare piece of material that plays on many levels," says Joel Stillerman, Senior Vice President of Programming, Production and Digital Content. "Kirkman's series brilliantly captures the social commentary and ongoing human drama of the zombie apocalypse; and let's us kick a little zombie you-know-what from time to time."

Too many things going on for next episode, dealing with Andrea, Rick's group getting ready, Governor getting his people ready, Tyresse's group dealing with you know who, Daryl being emotionally destroyed, what will happen to Milton? Then the all Out WAR. Sunday can't come sooner:cool:

Actually I have a feeling that

the town may turn against the governor.

Not sure what you mean by Tyresse's group dealing with you know who

Very cool they just gave away a copy of the new video game for free to everyone in the studio for the talking dead.

after seeing the sneak peak I have to say I bet they have abandoned that part of the prison to the walkers. It did say C block aren't they in A block

Tyresse's group dealing with
Ben's death

Damn such a tease for next week's episodes :D

That game has been getting really bad reviews, their giving them away:D

Hadn't thought of that in terms of the episode, just other things on my mind

Yeah I heard the game was so/so

Great episode last night, can't wait to see the finale.

As for the game, yeah, i've seen from too many people how badly it sucks. I'm glad i didn't pick it up on release, it should be $20 or less in no time. Atleast Telltale gave us a great WD based game to enjoy.

^^^Telltale games is an Epic game, I just don't understand why Survival Instinct came so badly:mad:

Because they never really cared for the series, they just wanted to try and cash in on the fan fare that Daryl and merle gets. The graphics look horrible. The game looks like something ported over from the ps2.

As far as the show goes I think rick and his crew have decided to leave before the attack and take over Woodberry. Think about it. Phillip and all his men are trying to take the prison so why not take an almost unguarded Woodberry with Milton's help? And they also have to save Andrea somehow.

But I think this is the end of the line for Daryl he will be the big death of this season.

No dude, don't say that :(:mad:

There will be Riots if that happens. :D

I mean, the dude is a cool character, but if they really wanna make the governor a real baddy, he will have take Daryl and kill him.No one else in that group would be considered a big loss not even Rick. Now if they killed Maggie i might just have to stop watching. That woman is amazing:cool:

What if they killed Carl  that would be a big shocker:eek: plus they can't kill both
brothers
in one season...... Can they:(

I really tried watching this (Season 1) awhile ago, i just could not get the "feel" for it - i like the collectables though :)

Take caer
John

kind of a boring finale after all the things that have happened through out the season,i expected more. And sooner or later this show is going to be down to just Michone and that other black chick(she aint that bad) with all the cute girls gone and i aint got no time for that. The day Maggie dies is the day this show dies for me.

I thought the same thing, everyone Hyping it up and then it just fizzled
The Governor doing his thing on the Woodbury residents was unexpected. Also I was expecting Big things for Andrea.

This finale was a Let down

my biggest issue is that nothing happened to him at the end, there was no real resolution, because of course he is going to come back. Also when he started shooting them what the hell not one of the 20 people could shoot back, really. Really!!!

Oh and why the hell would Rick let those people into the prison all the men are dead just infirm and old now, that is going to be a huge task of keeping everyone supplied. Loose Andrea get Tyrese and infirm, idk

The only positive thing is that the show is now taking a completely different path from the comics, which could work out well and keeps it fresh. Maybe if they inject some comic characters but introduce a new female character that would be cool.

Oh adn did anyone catch TTD with that caller. They looked so creeped out like a real surreal moment. But some guy on FB is claiming to be him, not sure if this is a publicity stunt now

You guys remember when Rick said "We are going to war"? It didn't happened :( it took the whole season to build up the conflict and all for what? NOTHING!

I'm pretty sure by the mid season finale of 4,the governor will do an all out assault on the prison...... Again with better equipped soldiers.
