I was an inch away from canceling this one and waiting for a price drop. Had I not missed it in theaters I would have canceled it but I held on to my order because I really wanted to see it.

I think this will be available again as its universal. If its sold out why would they miss the opportunity to make more cash? Most of their steels have been in print forever even to be sold sub £10.

I don't think that's going to happen it they were planning this they would have been back in stock by now

Previous Universal steelbooks like ET and Jaws they over estimated the demand and got stung especially with ET (The print run was huge)

The Universal 100th Anniversary Steelbook Editions were not listed at limited
They then released in Europe and America real heroes limited edition steelbooks same titles as 100th Anniversary Steelbook Editions

The Worlds End and Kick Ass 2 were both released as Limited Editions

If you wait you there might be at some stage real heroes limited edition versions of The Worlds End and Kick Ass 2

The UK Worlds End Steelbook was a limited release
The UK and German Steelbook of Kick Ass 2 was a limited Release

You have to remember Amazon and Zavvi ship worldwide and lot of sales were from outside of the UK as well from large Fan base in the UK and a big factor is that lot of people are now buying steelbooks compared to 1 year ago
Steelbooks are now very popular and no longer a small market

If you look at very popular recent films over the last year
How many of them that were steelbooks have sold out

Worlds End and Kick Ass were big releases with large fan base worldwide
This is going to happen with other new popular films getting limited steelbook releases as the amount of customers buying steelbooks has increased a lot

Less popular films will be around longer and will have price drops but if its a new release film and popular don't be surprised if it sells out

You will see another steelbook release of Worlds End but it wont be the same it will be a different release with different artwork
When this will happen I suspect in next 6 months

i think the main reasons were the lack of other steelbooks for kick ass 2 and the worlds end worldwide, not more collection,i think it's evened it self out,and you cant say only less popular titles will be around longer, massive films like die hard have been in stock for ages,so on that i do not agree with you.

Die hard is not a new film its a back catalogue release
and lot of people already have it on blu ray or Dvd

Worlds End and Kick Ass 2 are not back catalogue there new Films

Back catalogue releases will always be harder to sell when re issued unless its a very limited release as in 1000 or 2000 limited

The number of new films now getting a steelbook release is a lot more compared than before
We usually had to wait a few months or as in recent back catalogue a few years for a steelbook version

Lot of new steelbook customers out there now and the studios know this and its why we have a lot of steelbook releases last year and half
The studios are going to have to take a risk on back catalogue releases but with new they know they will sell if the film is very popular
The reason for all the re issues of a previous steelbook titles is due to that lot more new steelbook fans

They most likely under estimated the demand for Worlds End and Kick Ass but this might have been due to the previous back catalogue releases not selling out but that's because they were already sold and released on standard blu ray before
They win end of the day there not left with any stock to sell

yeah i know, but you are saying there are many more collectors,if that were the case die hard and others would sell out,not to mention its zavvi who has it and they ship worldwide,it's not like ES were you have to pay the extra dosh for groupbuys etc,i just think these two had very little printed compared to what universal usually do,not to mention the premium finish. i think yeah there's always more interest in newer films and they usually sell out yeah, but to say steelbooks are no longer a small market i disagree, many people still have no clue what the hell they are

1 year ago a lot of people did not know what a steelbook was that's changed now
My steelbook collection has increased 200% in the last year alone
YouTube Videos etc and sites like this have given lot more attention to steelbooks
This has given new film releases a big push in getting a steelbook release on release day along with standard releases
For example now that I buy steelbooks I will consider first in getting a steelbook release of a new film as against buying a standard blu ray unless the standard version has better extras
Lots of new steelbooks fans now are buying the steelbook version of new films
When its a back catalogue re release if I already have it its a different story
Example look how long it took for Taxi Driver to sell out a fantastic film but most already had it on blu ray

Its because of the increase of people knowing about steelbooks and buying them we been getting a lot of back catalogue release as steelbooks

Look back to 2 years ago the number of steelbook releases compared to now

I am curious how many new members have registered to this site in the last year and last 6 months
Its good for all of us the more people start buying steelbooks as better chance of a back catalogue getting a release

When people stop buying steelbooks then the studios will stop releasing them or they will become very limited releases again
But as more new customers know about steelbooks and start buying them there is more of a chance you will see back catalogue release you never expected

If you into buying steelbooks as a collector expecting there value to increase that will diminish except for very limited releases

I myself have told people about steelbooks and they are now buying them and they did not know what a steelbook was
When you have lot of releases you will get people noticing them and youtube has played a big part as has HDN Website a major part in developing the interest in steelbooks
