Thanks for sharing this Teddyjun

Perhaps those who might get hit by customs fees, could ask for this to be marked as gift... Just a thought.

If it's marked as a gift but has obviously been sent by a company, UK Customs will still charge. To count as a gift it has to have been sent from an individual.

To be free of import charges the steels need to be marked at anything less than but NOT including $25 (not incl. Postage), however thats providing its only $10 shipping...
As thats more than a $10 reduction on the actual price, i doubt PA will reduce it by this much, nor is it fair on them, so i would say leave a note asking for the item to be marked as a gift rather than merchendise ;)

I don't have PA on facebook, but could someone who does please ask if they would consider marking items as gifts with the actual prices rather than merchendise? That way PA don't undervalue items on the customs decloration, and we dont get stung with the charges

I checked about Plain Archive's opinion of under value from their shop.

Dear international customers.

Half excited and half concerned, as the pre-order date for “The Wrestler” draws near, a big portion of our international customers are demanding undervalued invoice. We are fully aware of the harsh realities regard to import duties added by some European authorities. It’s uneasy for us to watch some of our customers paying extra on top of our products + shipping fees.
.
Unfortunately, an undervalued invoice is strictly forbidden and illegal in most countries. If caught on multiple occasions, Plain Archive could be listed on the authorities’ blacklist, banning us from shipping our products to destinations around the world. Therefore, Plain Archive OFFICIALLY does not provide an undervalued invoice to our international customers.
.
However, if you think your country’s authorities add a ridiculous sum of duties even when purchasing a single-disc, for example, we advise you to leave a message under the “note” section when purchasing through our online store. Please note that we cannot undervalue our products significantly, but we will do our best to fairly unload your burden. Again, this is not an official service, and we do not take responsibilities for any extra duties or taxes that may be added by the officials.
.
We greatly appreciate your interest in Plain Archive and our products. The Plain Archive team in Korea is encouraged by your positive, as well as your negative feedbacks. To meet your high expectations, we will never stop putting our best efforts.

Wow, its good of them to clear it up. But is seems dumb to me for a company to openly admit what they are being asked to do is illegal but they will do it anyway.

Sorry, your figures are wrong. The HMRC US$ exchange rate for January is 1.6392, so the maximum value is $24.58 but, since it won't hit Mount Pleasant until February or March, it would need to be marked well under $24 to be safe.

As I explained in my previous post, HMRC define a gift as "something sent directly by one private individual to another". If they intercept parcels marked as a gift, but clearly sent by a retailer, they can, and will, impose charges.

Does any body know do they:
- combine shipping (order more shipping less)
- if order more than one, how do they ship? One big box or small individual boxes (like Zavvi)?

Thanks guys :)

Yeh, i know there is still the risk of import charges if they find out, but just about everywhere i order from including amazon.com i mark as a gift and i have never been stung on them ;)
I just depends if your lucky i guess, some will slip through and some wont, but its better than everyone being charged

Breaking Update!

Just got a reply from Plain Archive via FB, for one of the most pressing questions concerning order limitations. When I asked, will there be a limit on how many copies of each edition that one person/account can buy?

Here is Plain Archive's reply:

Yes, we'll set the limit 3 copies per edition. :)

From Plain Archive's facebook

So for most of Asian and EU region, this goes live on 18th. and for US, this goes live on 17th.

What if all copies are sold out on 17th itself ?

I hope on 18th, there are copies left for purchase for Asian members.

That's not how UTC works. 18th January at 8AM in Korea is equal to 17th January at 8PM in US, etc.
