On Import Duties & Taxes

Half excited and half concerned, as the pre-order date for “The Wrestler” draws near, a big portion of our international customers are demanding undervalued invoice. We are fully aware of the harsh realities regard to import duties added by some European authorities. It’s uneasy for us to watch some of our customers paying extra on top of our products + shipping fees.

Unfortunately, an undervalued invoice is strictly forbidden and illegal in most countries. If caught on multiple occasions, Plain Archive could be listed on the authorities’ blacklist, banning us from shipping our products to destinations around the world. Therefore, Plain Archive OFFICIALLY does not provide an undervalued invoice to our international customers.

However, if you think your country’s authorities add a ridiculous sum of duties even when purchasing a single-disc, for example, we advise you to leave a message under the “note” section when purchasing through our online store. Please note that we cannot undervalue our products significantly, but we will do our best to fairly unload your burden. Balls, I forgot to leave a message for customs .

I looked it up now and the limit for importing to France from outside the EU without the risk of customs seems to be €150 (£123/$203). Is it true?

If so...



I mean, given how many UK Ninjas have been hit by customs, maybe I'm not looking at the right category (one would assume France and the UK can't be that different) ; from private individual to private individual it's €45, but Plain Archive isn't a private individual, so it does feel like it's an amazing €150 threshold. I only ordered the full slip edition ($46 = 35€) so I shall see.

And kudos to Plain Archive for their good taste, their well-organized website, and my 12:01am transaction was as smooth as a baby's cheeks .

It's great that a new retailer is getting into the Steelbook game, but I really hate the design on this one. The title going covering both covers looks awful in my opinion. Add to that the fact it will be matte and mostly black, it sounds like a disaster in the making to me. The extras are nice though, I wish UK retailers would consider things like this, especially for the more limited and higher priced releases.

Add to that the fact it will be matte and mostly black, it sounds like a disaster in the making to me. The extras are nice though, I wish UK retailers would consider things like this, especially for the more limited and higher priced releases.

Fair enough if it doesn't float your boat Snooloui. I do think it looks great though... Plain Archive seem to be really focusing on the steelbook as a piece of art and I think they did a grand job with this. Hopefully they will come up with something in the future you can get excited about. What did you think of the Melancholia edition they did?
