Not sure about other folks, but my BB showed that they had no stock available at all. I took a flier and dropped in after lunch on my way back to work and saw at least 8 steels, not counting the one I purchased. I thought I would miss out on this one, glad I stopped in though.

Handle with care, Please! I'm a collector!

um. no. just no. I think Wreck was being nice. I don't "hear ya", and actually don't agree with this at all.

Working at Target or Best Buy or Walmart does not grant one the license to have mashed potatoes for brains and bang around MY new mint steelbooks.

acting with intelligence is all that is required. like Wreck said... by now, they should definitely know what a steelbook is.

so... now... I am not shy at all. I straight up tell people to handle with care because I don't want them dented (it's happened, right in front of me at Target checkout).

One alternative method I have been experimenting with is closely inspecting it right in front of them just before handing it to them to scan and letting them know that I am just checking it for any scratches or dings. I have found that they usually handle with more care when I do this.

But as I leave the store, I'm not too concerned about looking like an OCD weirdo. I care about whether or not my Thor 2 steelbook is mint. Sorry but that's the way it is.

Couldn't agree more. Before I even hand them the item I make eye contact and say "Handle with care please! I'm a collector, thats why!" I set it down like its a precious baby. I even take my slipcovers off, and just hand them the basic plastic case to scan. They've taken my slipcovers and rub them aggressively back & forth on that stupid de magnetize thing too many times and I get pisssed. Especially when I spend so much time cherry picking my copies.

Here's a pick of today's Thor haul......

I went by two local stores after work, nothing on the displays or anywhere around the store :( This one was under produced if you ask me..... guess they don't get "supply and demand ". Actually, it sounds to me like they are purposely doing a short run on this one to build up the collector market hype on the next bunch of steel releases.

the store I visit was sold out when I went to pick up my copy at 7:30. Soooo glad I was a bit late for work and was able to reserve a copy for in-store pick up.

as far as the employees went, the guy who fetched my copy knew what a steelbook was, so did a girl in her mid 20's. Perfect copy, too. The in-store pick up sticker sucks majorly, but I was able to peel it off with no damage to the wrapping. I opened it anyways.

The Best Buy clerk that handed me my pickup copies told me how this steelbook was very limited and how he was so happy he was still able to get a copy for himself because my order of 3 copies nearly wiped them out.

There is only one way to go shopping for Thor 2, a way guaranteed to make all others bow and give up their steelbooks in their hands should they have taken them prior to the Lightning God's arrival .....

With MJOLNIR in hand!

I may be able to help a couple of members out with this one. I went to my local store and picked up a copy today- then received an email about an hour ago that I have 3 copies being shipped(forgot I pre-ordered). These were originally for family members, as well as myself. Two have backed out so far, but it will be Thursday before they arrive. I'm keeping one as trade bait for later, but the other two are up for grabs- barring any snafus in shipping. I'm hoping for a box, since there are three steelbooks inside. I will post back on Thursday when they arrive.

no box, you have to get 4 or 5 movies to get a box

Does anybody else notice a "clicking" or minor bending of the front cover. My copy isn't tightly attached to the plastic interior, I think its from the debossing that's slightly pushing the inside.

Then I will most likely have zero copies fit for use- based on my experience with The Amazing Spider-Man steel. It looked like my UPS guy chocked his wheels with my copy before placing it on the porch. Means a return trip for a refund most likely. Thanks for the heads up, Ricker- I can now temper my expectations.

Mine was shipped via USPS and was in perfect shape. I was a little scared when I saw the cardboard packaging, but it was safe and sound. :)

i think its just common sense that for steel book blurays, you'd expect the cashier or employee to handle it with care. they don't need to know anything about how its a collectors item. the sheer fact that its a metal casing should tell them to be careful when handling said item. but this goes for any item. it doesn't need to be a steel book. it can be an iPod touch, a new cell phone, a standard dvd. all items should be handled with great care because HELLO people want to buy them in perfect condition, not dented or torn.

Today... what a crazy day it was! EEK! I'm just glad we survived it! Happy to see you're all here and not in the hospital! Too bad for one of our fellow members... I saw in the news Ricker got his ass kicked and robbed outside a bestbuy! :hilarious: LOL! JK!

I got my greedy NINJAS paws on 2 Steels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FU** YEAH! :scat: :scat: So DAMN happy my wife Ordered these for Store Pick-Up while I was asleep!!! She understands my addiction! :p

I read jimmyv's post as well but I think those are rare and isolated incidents. Not everyone treats products with the same disregard. My response was in regards to the yellow sticker, i never talked about the mishandling since I wasn't aware that thaaaat was also the topic of discussion. Because the few posts before mine were all about the yellow sticker.

Also, if you shop at the same Best Buy then you have nothing to worry about. My best buy knows I have bought 200+ movies from them and I collect Steelbooks so they always ensure they pick out the best condition absolute mint steelies from their assortment. Or I won't buy it. Never had to be rude, just told them what steelbook collecting is, something I enjoy and showed them a few pics of my displays....that's it. Now they know.

The best part about that above pic looks like Thor is about to smash his hammer into Loki's smug face.

My personal [mint]:D copy of Thor 2 from Best Buy.

Nicer looking than I expected. I still think the Kimchi Lentiuclar image would have been a better front cover, but the title really improved the look of this picture and it makes Thor's pose look less awkward. Of course, gloss would have been epic, but still overall this is a nice steelbook.

Who like new pics?!!
