Slip is nothing like what we are used to from kimchi , manta , filmarena etc
It's more like a j card that's a slip case - it's a thin paper. I really wouldn't pay extra for it .
It's very cheap feeling and flimsy
Meh, shame... but it's the quality I expected to be honest. Thanks for confirming!

And it's not glossed either
Why would people expect the same quality when the price is 1/3 of what you would pay for a premium release.

Did they put a j-card over the slip cover?

Nice embossing on the steel though.

What's the finish on the steelbook like, matte? Any spot glossing?

First impressions, if you are used to buying premiums then of course you will see the quality of the slips cannot be compared. There is nothing special about the slip, feels very cheap and bends easily, but what do you expect for £16? You pay for what you get. With the slip I can use that instead of my steel protectors which are quite expensive. So yeah overall not bad for £16 worth. If you are going to be expecting something like Nova/blufans etc then that would be silly and be expecting to pay something like £40 - £50 for it.

I really don't think it's the quality of the slipcovers that makes Nova/Blufans prices £40-£50!

It's more their limited quantity, overall package and a lot of the time the WEA and finish on the Steelbooks.

I recently got the Korean Lock Up Blu ray with a gorgeous finish to the slip and it didn't cost me £40-£50. So it can be done......

And I know you're going to say that was an Amaray, but even Amaray slips are better quality than what we're seeing here.

UK slipcovers were always poor to begin with though. Ratings logos alone ruin them.

J Card over slip, writing is embossed.

Matte finish but the front of Tom Cruise and the rear of the jet fighter is glossy. Nice little touch. I expect these releases will be similar to all the other waves so I wouldn't expect anything amazing. It would do the job for me :)

I was speaking in general that if you want a nice premium steel you will need to pay premium prices as that is the average cost these days at £40 - £50. I am not going to break down the cost of every premium steel. The simple point I am making is that these slips arent great quality so for £16 very unlikely anything what you would consider as a 'gorgeous' finish slip is going to made here. Anything can be done, I never said anything is not impossible, but unlikely.

Received mine this morning. I would say the slip is exactly what I was expecting tbh. It's certainly a welcome addition to future Zavvi steels imp and probably makes me more likely to buy catalog titles on release instead of waiting for a price drop

And the steel itself. Wow it's certainly a hell of a lot better that I was expecting with some nice debossing and spot gloss

Here is a pic off the slip side by side with a regular amaray slip to give you an idea of the thickness

Just cancelled my plans on ordering these Zavvi slips.

Thick cardboard with gloss and bossing does not cost a lot, even my cornflacks box has a better finish on occasions!

The slips are basically free though haha. The majority of catalogue steels from Zavvi are around the £15/£16 mark. If you don't like the slips but still want the steel as other people have mentioned it serves as an added form of protection during transit.

We aren't allowed to watch this movie on my submarine. Every time we do, something breaks. The captain has actually banned it.
I'm guessing the real reason in QT (#106)

No nice U.K. slipcovers ? What a load of old cobblers !
