Would you guys check your Sundance copy, please?

0:52:17 mark, just after they find the body, and before our protagonist goes to talk to a character named Chip.

Frames start dropping significantly, which is especially painful to watch when characters move or when the camera pans. Is my copy alone defected, or is the entire batch ruined? Theatrical cut doesn't have this problem.

Yep, mines doing it too.

I wonder if there are any chances for corrected disc, like it was with Le Grand Bleu. Up to this scene I was enjoying the film, and when it came up, it completely nudged me out of the experience. Looks and feels awful! :ugh: After that, constantly worrying about the next such issue, I had difficulties following the story. :smashed:

how long does the issue occur?

doubt much of anything will be done if just a short period and the fact its the sundance cut and not theatrical.

but who knows.

About 3-4 mins @Wreck pulls you right out of the film and very jarring mate.

that sucks ... didnt know if like only a few seconds.

did USA edition offer a sundance cut? wonder if source material that korea received is bad etc. or if there is a flawless version out there already on disc. If there is a flawless then they were duplicating off a bad one and sometimes retailers can push back at distributors whom can then rectify the problem. (typically for free for the retailer)

It's a faulty product. When Criterion released Eraserhead, they replaced discs for a smaller issue than this (5 seconds of black screen instead of fade to white). This, however, goes on for the entirety of a scene, and it's more than obvious: it started to hurt my eyes in the first two or three seconds already.

Please note that this particular scene is NOT exclusive for the Sundance cut. The same scene is in the theatrical cut on Disc 1 (but on Disc 1 it's all alright).

That's fine, as long as somebody shows appreciation for their fans. I mean, somebody made an error, it happens, and it's to be expected that they'll try their best to fix it. It's in common interest.

Personally, I won't be able to watch that disc again, because I know that the next time I'd start the movie, I'd only be waiting for the ruined part to come and go. That was common in VHS tapes era, but those times are long gone.

I think a replacement disc is called for. Btw, should I watch the sundunce or theatrical version first? Will appreciate just your recommendations without any details.

Same problem here on Sundance version. What to do ? I bought it on eBay. Regards
A good eBay seller should be able to get for you the replacement disc from the supplier or retailer he got it from, if there's going to be one. Just let him know the issue and ask him to notify the supplier/retailer.
