Don't do the evil curses thing. I find that most people are cursed enough in one way or another. But how's this:

He broke laws to protect his friend. You can’t get any less goody two-shoes. Tony the Pussycat Tiger is the one that wanted to kowtow to the UN and the Sokovia Accords’ oversight.
Those two things never made any sense to me as part of the marvel films. Don't know if it is any different in the comics or just trying to show growth but both things went completely against the very basics of each character. Tony built Ultron and was responsible for many people dying. His guilt made him not trust his own judgment, and feel all superheroes needed oversight. There’s his arrogance. If Tony can’t be trusted, no other superheroes can.
I love Cap but always wondered what Hawkeye was doing with all those super heroes. I guess I could say the same of Black Widow, but that's Scarlett Johansson and she's hot, so she needs to be there.
