Hey all,

Use this thread to chat about all things steelbook. Chat away ...

In an undetermined amount of time (when I need to submit GB addresses) I will then conduct the giveaway via random.org using the Post #s in this thread.

Your entries could be 1 (if you post 1 time) or 100 if you post 100 times.

At that time, I will figure out who wins the free DL TDK Blufans Edition. If you already bought the DL, you will get yours for free as I will refund you. ;)

I will host the giveaway LIVE on my IG by rolling the virtual dice first, if it lands on 5 then I will randomize the numbers 5 times and whatever # it lands on that post count # is the winner.

May as well be cow testicles on a plate. No thanks.
Really? I don't know, I've come to like drawn covers, but not artistic visions or representations, that don't look like actors, like been done on new 4K Hunger Games steelbooks. No, better like rotoscoped or drawn over images, from existing photos or screenshots, like those on some German mediabooks. Here was the same, only done much earlier, and I loved them. Skipped 2-3 titles, and now sorry I did.

I think these were perfect for some films but really didn't suit others. I have the Shaun of the dead and hot Fuzz slipcover versions.. annoyed that they never did the world's end. Kick Ass, Scott Pilgrim and Paul look perfect in that style.
Yeah, something like Scarface, or Gladiator, didn't really fit.
Definitely would want World's End one, but they just did 3 waves, and by the time that movie came out, ditched it. Although I think they should've made it a regular thing, like 3 steelbooks a every couple of months or something. They did adapt the design to some slipcovers, like you said, and even digibooks later.

These are from Czech Republic:

Every steelbook I've ordered from Amazon has arrived damaged

He’s not alone. Germany, Italy, and UK have all been less than mint for me. I know I’m not alone. Unless they’ve improved their packaging, you should consider yourself lucky.

on steelbook damage in transit, if it's from a specialist retailer, the packaging is much better, whereas if it's from a mass market global retailer, much worse. in orther words, specialists care because replacements can mofe easily affect their bottom line; mass retailers don't, and it doesn't.

also, items sent to my work address arrive quicker and in better packaging nick than items sent to my home address. most suspicious...

Actually Amazon did care at one time, and did have special packaging for steelbooks, at least European ones.
Each was packed into a special cardboard box with stretched cellophane inside holding the steelbook tight in place. This was at the end of 2012.

They called it "Certified Frustration-Free Packaging", don't know what happened to it, why they stopped using it. I guess because of size constraints.

I remember those days fondly. Sadly they became considerably more narrow. I still had good luck for the most part, but it was nice knowing your coveted Steelbook would make its journey free of woe.

Now they just have Certified Frustrating Packaging for free.

One more Dark Knight in the collection, the Spanish digibook.
They're still sealed, gotta compare them to British 4K digibooks.

When I bought the exclusive Spider-Man: FFH steelbook from Amazon JP (maybe in 2020…I don’t recall exactly when) it was sent in this exact packaging. I was happily surprised.

I just saw a particular movie at a screening tonight. I'm under NDA but what I can say without breaking the NDA is that a steelbook for this will be a day 1 purchase. A premium steelbook GB preorder might be even worse than the blufans preorder of this dark knight release. I hope @Wreck is prepared for another episode of mayhem
