I'm sure nobody is blaming Kevin for this, and I think he knows that. However obviously these Blufans GB's are a huge job even if everything goes smoothly, but should anything go wrong like this they are a huge burden for one person. I wouldn't blame him for thinking twice in future, as much as I like getting some of these releases.

Unfortunately this is just a continuation of the steelbook damage that has become a plague in the last few months, almost every release now has a problem in one way or other. It seems to my untrained eye that the volumes being produced are just too much and the quality control is zero due to a lack of time/staff and having to meet production deadlines.

Couldn't agree more.

Kevin your dedication to the forum and the service you provide to us is invaluable. As dissapointed as we are I can't imagine how dissapointed you must be feeling after investing so much in this GB.

We rightly expect Scanavo & Blufans to provide a top quality product. Blufans up to now have been held up as the gold standard, which makes this their first misstep. As far as I'm aware.

Lets wait and see how this all plays out, it's encouraging that some poeple have posted about receiving mint copies. So at least we don't appear to be having an ES Jack Reacher situation.

Kevin,

Please don't stop doing group buys. It's not your fault. Hang in there bud.

Yes. We aren't shooting the messenger:) I thought this groupbuy went incredibly smooth. Can't fault the delivery man for manufacturing faults.

As for "panic opening", I think of us were on the fence about opening or not (that's how I usually am anyway). I was tempted to open this many times before I actually did. Checking for damage just gave me an excuse, really:)

Has anyone else opened theirs, if so, is your back covered in scratches?
Mines covered :( lots of tiny ones along bottom of back, a long one on left hand side and a few more. As you as you put it to the light its horrible. Its hard to picture but I've tried:

So I advice everyone to check your copies.

Oh yh, I got number 251

I wasn't gonna open mine until i read your post...Damn it, back is covered with scratches

Just catching up with the days news and spotted this thread. So the issue is that there are grizzly bears hiding in the Steelbooks yeah??!

Don't you people know that you're supposed to run towards them. If you turn and run then you should expect your back to get covered in scratches!! :p

Some people eh?

In all seriousness I'm sorry to see that there have been issues affecting these steelbooks as they are such beautiful packages. I keep being sick in my mouth at the thought of having to open one of these up!! Maybe I'll just keep mine sealed and put my motto of 'What the wife doesn't know won't hurt her' into effect. Or something like that.

Kevin, you are a credit to the forum and it's good to have you about. I've never had any concerns about your GBs and doubt I ever will. Sometimes sh1t happens, and in this case sh1t has happened. But I bet no-one is more gutted than yourself when they see something like this so please don't be disheartened. You / BF are working on a solution and that's good enough for most folk I'm sure. I hope you can get things sorted hassle free and that it doesn't take up too much more of your time

Thanks again for the updates bud ;)

Opened my copy to watch today only to find a Ding on the Back cover...

Absolutely gutted as this is such a gorgeous steelbook.

Is there any chance of securing a replacement or refund on this please Kevin?

Kevin, thanks for your hard work. I know a lot of people are OCD which is why I stopped doing GBs, except for only people I know. I have been in your position before and I know it can be a very thankless job sometimes.

Honestly, to those people who choose not to open, how can you expect to get anything without knowing for sure that your SB is damaged? Why not just ask for a second free SB while you are at it.

WE ALL LOVE YOU K! Stuff happened! Just remember folks we had great steelbooks in the pass! Now they have to investigate what's going on like any other retailer! As for you Kev, I take a bow! You are awesome! Maybe next time try not to get so many, so in case something like this happen its easier on you brother! Still, you rocked!

Some of members reported the scratches at the back of steel after opening, please do not worry. There will be a exchange for the steelbook case after the hubs are all done with the delivery and there will be no additional cost to you.

I think some people is going to try to take advantage of the situation and that's just bs!

first and foremost, thank you kevin, blufans and andy for doing the gb and your patience and help

ok... so im confused lol. I dont know what to do... i got a couple for other members here (how much of a pain is it to receive the item, i ship it to them and they open it and its damaged ? cause at this rate it seems like a majority are damaged)

so do we contact the hub master if we haven't received it yet and they send it back and we get new copies ? how is guarenteed that the new copies dont have the same damage and its a even longer time to wait on top of the wait time since we first signed up for the gb?

i dont mean to complain and sound whiny, just need some direction here because my copies are not for me and i dont want my people receiving damaged ones

The problem is if you don't open them and you trade or sell later down the road you have no idea. The only way to be sure is to open it and I am afraid to open them as they lose value the minute you open it.

yeah CHIP! the thing is you later on decide to sell or trade you will tell the buyer or trader that as far as you can tell the steelbook is in great conditions!

Finally had a chance to read through the recent stuff in this thread, sucks for people who opened their steels and found some issues with their steels :(

I haven't gotten mine yet as Kevin was kind enough to hold mine to ship with some of my other upcoming Blufans orders, but I hope no matter what happens I hope Kevin knows how much everyone appreciates what he does for this community, and it would be a sad day if Kevin felt he couldn't keep running these GBs for us good folk :(

Hopefully for people who have issues with their steels (who rightfully can ask to have something done about their issues), they'll proceed in a manner that makes Kevin's life as easy as possible as he's just one guy and not a company with a big customer service department. Let's just try to help him out like he helps us all out!

Congratulations both for totally missing the point.

At the time of the original posts, there had been none opened that were mint. I still believe this is the case, as of the 2 postings since neither have 100% confirmed they have opened theirs and that they are mint under the same level of scrutinisation.

Because this is a limited print run(in fact with any print run) it would be impractical to press just a few more cases, so it would be practical to press the entire run again, and distribute out to the purchasers whether they had opened them or not. I remind you we still don't know if anyone has a totally mint opened copy.

During the conversations Kevin said that this option is impossible (did you miss that part)?

So the conversation took a different track to try and find a solution that would be acceptable to all.

Apart from your support for Kevin (again, no-one has blamed Kevin at any time) I'm really not sure what your posts are supposed to achieved apart from inflaming the situation. No-one is asking for a free SB and no-one is taking advantage.

Again, going forward this should all be about finding a solution that is acceptable to all - those who have opened their's, and those who plan to keep them sealed.

At this point there is more photographic evidence do damaged copies than sealed. If members could keep posting their images (damaged or otherwise) then this will help clarify the situation.

Posting inflammatory posts will not help and just serves to wind people up
