couldn't disagree more. many times the poster captures the best artwork of the film. that's why it's published as a poster to sell the film. makes sense right?

The "poster" images that I posted in this thread (if done well) are all way better representations of the feel of Wreck It Ralph than the current front cover posted by Zavvi. Honestly I am often completely amazed at how much influence the whole "keep it classy and simple" crowd has had on the steelbook world.

So I'm here to bring the other side.

Avengers is a fantastic example. Riddle me this. Why on earth would a plain black "A" win over an image like the one on the left. It even has the same "A" right above all the Avengers. In any survey on any collectors forum, the pic on the left would have won by a landslide, yet somehow the brilliant designers "stuck to their guns" as you call it and chose the pic on the right.

I agree about poster art, Jimmy, as a general rule. However with the above example, the left is a pretty shoddy design, IMO and I would opt for the A logo. But given the option of other poster art I would certainly agree, I just don't like the way the above is designed with the whole cutout effect and the silver.

I love the WIR poster art, but since it's been used on the amaray releases already, I'm pretty happy with the design on this one, and I wouldn't be double dipping had the art been the same as the US slip which is what I currently own. That could be a good or a bad thing! :hilarious:

Excellent news, will defo be getting this. I held off getting the standard release hoping for the UK to get a decent steelbook. VOILA!

Sometimes links are in the catalog but modifications need to me made or the link was not supposed to appear year. Probably be back soon, I am guessing.

To be honest the left hand Avenger image looks like a bad photoshop job (to me anyway) so I'd actually prefer just the A. Though I do agree that the Avengers offered a lot of opportunities for them to do something a bit different and the final choice was not the best, but I certainly don't think it was terrible.

The thing is, the Wreck it Ralph image that you don't like IS actually poster art. Or at least it was over here in the UK. So I'm not sure what the issue is, it gives a classic 80's feel to the character which I really love.

Not to mention that there are countless BAD posters out there, as the get airbrushed and photoshopped to hell and back to make actors look good. You only have to look and Angelina Jolie's crazy long arm on the Wanted cover to see what happens when they go bad. Now some posters are awesome and if they get used as a steelbook cover, great, but I don't think they are always appropriate as then they just look exactly the same as the amaray copies etc.

The reason I collect steelbooks is because they look different. This Ralph cover looks different and great, a cover that is ripped from one of the generic posters would just be the same as buying the amaray. For me anyway - I realise people have different preferences.

It makes perfect sense from a business point of view. Just imagine how many customers could potentially be attracted to the hobby.

If you get WIR with the PS4, then the cost of the steel is only GBP 16.04. Wonder how much they are going to raise it when purchased on it's own?
