I found the story got a bit predictable at certain parts. If you've seen & understood Dennis Villenueve's Enemy and Arrival or more recently, Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, this movie will be a breeze for you. Still, it was good to see it play out. I'd recommend it for the animation alone. Movie kept me interested throughout so I'd say it was a good movie.

The Willer bus company operates only two open-top "restaurant buses" in Japan. The company, Cool Japan Travel, THE GUEST cafe & diner, and the Anime Tourism Association decided to partner and utilize those buses for a special "your name. Cafe Bus" experience. The cafe bus inspired by Makoto Shinkai's hit anime film will operate in Tokyo from August 3 to September 29.

Willer's 2 restaurant buses will be wrapped in your name. art. People who participate will be able to enjoy the scenery on the open-air second floor of the buses. The buses will drive by locations that feature in Shinkai's film. On the first floor, riders will be able to eat dishes featured at a your name. cafe that ran in Tokyo in January and February. Participants will receive one of eight special themed coasters as a bonus.

A 90-minute ride on the cafe bus will cost 5,800 yen (about US$52). The official web page for the campaign is accepting reservations now.

Japan's H.I.S. travel agency also offered a walking tour of locations from the film on November 19. The real-world inspirations in various locations in Japan for the film's settings have become popular anime pilgrimage sites. The local economy around Hida, the northernmost city in Gifu Prefecture, earned 18.5 billion yen (about US$164 million) due in part to tourism related to the film.

Shinkai's film opened in Japan on July 3, 2016 and quickly became a global sensation. The film opened in North America on April 7 and had grossed US$4,676,810 at the box office as of May 7.

I think this is the right one, unfortunately no pic and it doesn't say steelbook in the description so it's a bit hard to tell for sure but it is the 5 disc set. Was tempted to buy it a few days back but too expensive for me.

Yeah seen both enemy and arrival. Fully understood them and loved them, not seen Dunkirk yet.

i still haven't seen it, but am desperate to - trying to dampen my expectations. the film is the highest-earning Japanese film ever globally. it made over $230 million in Japan alone, playing in the #1 spot for 13 weeks and is frequently cited as the best Japanimation film since Spirited Away. i'd post the trailer, but i don't think the trailer is very good, and certainly doesn't suggest what i've just typed. essentially (basic logline follows)...

Those are some very impressive achievements!

I haven't bothered to check out the trailer or even read up on the film, so until reading your post I had no clue what it was about lol. A friend of mine recently saw the film though and she's been banging on about how good it is, so I have to watch it now just to please her.

Personally think the film is massively overrated but at the same time I can kind of see why it has a span of wider appeal beyond anime (negative connotation for those who think anime = moe nonsense and nothing else). Anyone who hasn't seen a Shinkai film will easily be drawn into the visuals to the point of distraction and I do think its heart is in the right place despite playing things a bit too safe.

Most likely this will be region B locked as it's Anime Ltd pressing the discs.

Firstly - love the steelbook proof we had in here - it uses a lovely gloss and the white layers are just perfect on it so I think folks won't be upset when they see the final piece.
