Zack Snyder’s Justice League Star Ray Fisher Says Cyborg’s Story Will “Hit Some Hearts”

Ray Fisher says Cyborg's story in Zack Snyder's Justice League, director Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League never released into theaters, will "hit some hearts" when it restores the filmmaker's plans for the superhero who is part man, part machine. After briefly introducing the character alongside other future league members in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder described the story of Victor Stone — a star athlete who lost his mother and most of his organic body in an accident before being saved by his father, Silas Stone (Joe Morton), who used alien technology to rebuild his son with cybernetic enhancements — as "the heart of the movie."

"Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, he's not a happy camper by any stretch, but I don't think anybody would be if you had just lost everything that you've known about yourself," Fisher told TheNiceCast. "Your body, you've lost your mother, you've lost your ability to play football, one of the defining things that you've established for yourself. You've lost a sense of yourself, and it's about finding that again, finding that humanity again."

Crediting the work of Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio, Fisher added plans for Justice Leagueoriginally touched on deeper themes not present in the theatrical version completed by Joss Whedon.

"There's a ton of allegory with respect to that in being a Black man, and just the journey that Black people have taken in this country," Fisher said. "It can go as deep as you will allow it to, and I thank my stars that I was in the capable hands of Chris and Zack to be like, 'Listen, how far are we going to take this? This can hit some hearts, man. It can really hit some hearts.'"

For Snyder's film now undergoing work to release on the HBO Max streaming service next year, Fisher added, "Knock on wood, everything goes according to plan and we get this thing out here in 2021. But knock on wood, it does hit some hearts."

Beyond bringing to screen a more fleshed-out Cyborg, the star believes announcing the release of the Snyder Cut "may be the turn around for 2020. People need something to look forward to and hope for."

"This is pure jubilation," Fisher added. "This is nothing but good."

Batman v Superman’s Knightmare Will Make Sense After Snyder's Justice League

...

The entire set up for the Knightmare timeline is included in the Justice League Snyder Cut since it's confirmed that Darkseid will be included. Although Snyder had to scrap the original ending for his film (where Darkseid killed Lois, setting up Superman's evil turn in the sequel), Justice League will include a young Darkseid, known as Uxas, invading Earth for the first time. A version of his previous attempt to conquer Earth was featured in the theatrical cut of Justice League with Steppenwolf replacing Uxas, but now the future ruler of Apokolips will attempt to conquer Earth himself. This will help set up the Knightmare scene by showing how Darkseid came close to enslaving humanity thousands of years before, giving audiences a feel for how he later can decimate the planet with Superman on his side. The history lesson sequence will also introduce the Anti-Life Equation to aid this cause further.

Another way that the Justice League Snyder Cut will set up the Knightmare scene is by having Flash use time travel in Justice League's third act. In the Snyder Cut, the Justice League initially fail to stop Steppenwolf's invasion of Earth and the formation of The Unity, leaving Barry to go back in time to give them a redo. This would be the first time that Flash time travels chronologically, paving the way for his skills to be used in the future if need be. Thanks to Batman v Superman, it's already known that he will have to time travel again, but now Justice League will help establish that this is something that Flash can do.

Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League was also going to include at least a glimpse of the actual Knightmare timeline too. In 2018, Screen Rant exclusively debuted storyboards from the Snyder Cut showing Darkseid on a throne and an overview of the Knightmare future from the Mother Boxes. The shots designed by Snyder reveal that the Hall of Justice has been destroyed in this timeline and then shows the apocalyptic setting, with Darkseid's Omega symbol in the ground. Since Snyder shoots everything that he storyboards, it is believed that this will be included in the Snyder Cut. Where it will take place is not yet known, but it could be near the end of the film to tease fans what the DCEU will look like when Darkseid does arrive. With these critical pieces of set up already known, the Knightmare sequences in Batman v Superman shouldn't be as confusing once the Justice League Snyder Cut is released.

I have to admit, I am not the biggest fan of Zack Snyder's films but I am really looking forward to seeing his vision for Justice League and if it can get the DCEU back on track. I guess on the plus side, it cant be any worse than the existing version!

Justice League Snyder Cut Cyborg Concept Art Revealed

New concept art from Zack Snyder's Justice League has been revealed, following the news that the Snyder Cut will be released on HBO Max in 2021. Cyborg's role in the new cut of the DC Comics story is expected to be much larger than that seen in the theatrical cut of the movie. In fact, Snyder has made it a point to call Ray Fisher's character the "heart" of this version of Justice League. Now, new looks at the character and some of the weapons which he body's technology can evolve into has been released by concept artist Jerad S. Merantz on his social channels.

Merantz revealed an album of Cyborg concept art on Instagram on Monday. "Can't wait to watch this guy's story," he wrote as the caption.

The photo of Cyborg in this concept art is consistent with designs which were seen during ComicBook.com's visit to the set of Justice League. Much of what was seen in the war room at that time was not ultimately used in the theatrical cut of the film as it was largely overhauled following Snyder's departure prior to the film's completion. Now, Snyder's original vision is being fulfilled, including a version of Cyborg more consistent with the image below.

"When Zack and Debbie shared the extraordinary vision of where Zack wanted to take Justice League, my team and our counterparts at Warner Bros. took it as a mission to solve the many issues that stood in the way," said Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer at HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS and truTV. "Thanks to the partnership at Warner Bros. and the relentless pursuit of the entire WarnerMax team we are able to deliver this incredibly exciting moment for Zack, the fans and HBO Max."

"Thanks to the efforts of a lot people, we’re excited to bring fans this highly anticipated version of Justice League," said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. "This feels like the right time to share Zack’s story, and HBO Max is the perfect platform for it. We’re glad the creative planets aligned, allowing us to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut."

DC announces its biggest ever online event

Buckle up, superhero fans, as DC has announced its biggest ever online event.

With San Diego Comic-Con going online this year, DC has decided to start its own virtual event, Fandome, which will be accessible by anyone for free – no badge required. For 24 hours, the website will be accessible around the world, offering fans at the biggest movies, TV shows, and comics coming over the next few years.

Warner Bros. has pulled out all the stops when it comes to the movies they will be showing off at the event, including The Batman, Black Adam, Zack Snyder's Justice League, The Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman 1984.

The official release teases "new announcements from WB Games, Film and TV, and comics" including: Aquaman, The Batman, Batwoman, Black Adam, Black Lightning, DC Super Hero Girls, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, DC’s Stargirl, Doom Patrol, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Lucifer, Pennyworth, SHAZAM!, the SnyderCut, The Suicide Squad, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Teen Titans GO!, Titans, Watchmen, Young Justice: Outsiders, and Wonder Woman 1984.

One of the more surprising entries there is Watchmen. While the main series and Doomsday Clock spin-off comic series finished a while back, HBO released a sequel TV series that introduced new characters and added context to familiar ones. While showrunner Damon Lindelof has been ambivalent about being involved with a second season himself, he previously said that another creator could come on board and take over the reins. Perhaps another announcement is incoming?

For the meantime, all we can do is speculate about the reveals that will come with the mega-fan event, which begins August 22 at 10am PDT and will be accessible for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com. The event will feature six different virtual areas, each with their own full programmes.
