Before an online order for in store pickup can actually be picked up in person, an email stating the order is ready for pickup will be sent out to that account's email address. Then the order will be held in reserve for 7 days until you show up with proper ID and the ready to pick up email (either in paper form or on your mobile phone) to pick up your item(s).

There is no risk of anything happening to your order when you'd received the ready to pick up email. The email is generated and sent out when your order is put aside before the store opens. Alternatively you can head to the store at opening and wait inside the store (of course securing an extra copy if you can) until that email shows in your inbox

Yeah, once I get back from my local store and see what they actually have, and some other folks on the east coast report back, we'll have a better idea where we stand.

Driving in my area appears pretty nasty at the moment, so I'll probably just go to my local store.

Is there any difference between the ones bought in store and online? With HMV, the in-store ones come with the security protection stickers / tag.

There shouldn't be any difference at all. If there is, It would be the price sticker, as I am not sure where those get added to the merchandise.

Really? Even with a standalone SKU? You should be able to report that and get at least a $25 gift certificate out of that. For standalone SKU, it is obvious an employee is exchanging it and keeping the steelbook for themselves. Sorry to hear that happened that frequently to you.

Ash, very true generally, but unfortunately that is not always the case, either. Some stores misprogram the sku in their system, to reflect an Amaray. So even if you order the sku for the Steel online, you may show up and be given an Amaray.

Depending on the condition of my online orders, if needed, I should have some extra copies for the group buy.

My store was limiting purchases to 2 copies, so I bought 2. Then went to the CS desk and pick up my in store pickup orders. Though I got a very angry look from the woman that does the stocking. We'll wait and see the next time I go to the store on Friday for Les Mis. At least I only need 1 copy of that.
