Not sure I would call that embossing, its really just a raised paint effect I think.

I don't think there is actually enough metal on the spine width, to allow embossing without it buckling.

Yep it's very thin. I think they could raise the lettering slightly but I don't see how they could deboss it.

It would have to be on a Jumbo spine.
