I had this on order but cancelled it as the movie is cut. Does anyone know if it's anything significant or should I just reorder? If it's fight scenes and violence it would be pretty annoying. The German one is pricey and the U.S. is region locked. Ideally this would suit me best.

Also, is there any way to get a discount on this via Play/Rakuten?

Any helps would be great boys :)

Don't know if this is any help but on imdb -
The Extended version is only 3 minutes longer than the theatrical version. Here are the scenes that were added:
  • General Sitacles tried to flirt with Atalanta
  • General Sitacles was about to kill Phineas for not knowing Bessi lands was a trap, but Autolycus saved him. It was later revealed Phineas was a traitor.
  • Flash back (in a dream) of King Eurystheus condemning Hercules for the murders
Sorry for first post, forgot to SPOILER things.

Cheers buddy. Well, if these are the only things that are cut, then it's not too bad then IMO. As long as they're not censoring fight scenes or anything....

@BluSteel2012

From the BBFC's website:-

"This film was originally seen for advice in an incomplete form. The company was informed that it was likely to be classified 15, but that their preferred 12A could be achieved by reducing some bloody detail in three scenes. When the finished version was submitted for formal classification, those moments had been addressed."

When considering which edition to get, you should also bear in mind that the German and French Steelbooks, as well as being uncut and containing both 2D & 3D discs, also contain a bonus Blu-ray disc of extras not included in the UK one.

Since all three releases are from Paramount, it's another example, along with that of that of the "Transformers 4" 2D/3D issue, of that particular company treating its UK consumers differently to its European ones.

@Ronnie3067

Those are merely the differences between the Standard and Extended versions of the movie, both of which are included in most international releases of this title.

The UK version was actually cut, due to its violence, to achieve a more audience friendly rating, as detailed above (#254).

No idea to why the distributor needed the 12/12A rating and not 15...The real money is made at the Box Office...

@HUBMUSWELL

It was for its UK cinema release that the cuts were made. However, Paramount also submitted the cut version to the BBFC for the film's home entertainment release. I assume they thought it wasn't worth the time, effort or money to re-instate those cuts.

You may recall that exactly the same thing happened a couple of years ago with Universal's UK release of "Immortals".
