Can anyone tell me what's the difference between the original Desolation of Smaug steelbook and the extended version of the steelbook? I mean other than the extended version of the film, were the extras etc the same? (The UK versions)

Yes different extras but lot of what is on standard edition is covered better in extended edition extras more detailed

Extended edition is always better extras with hobbit and Lord of the rings films

Are the extras on the extended steelbook the same as the extended amaray of the film (the one with the 3D cover)
