It is easy to say that unless you view in hand and capture it from a closer distance using a better camera. These were shot from almost 2.5 ft. Now even in a dark room I can see the sheen from a distance which wasn't seen before.

It's true sometimes it's a pain to get what you see with your own eyes into a camera . Try a reflection from a bright light source such as a TV

I sent mine back as well, I actually said it was advertised as gloss and wasn't, and they gave RMA so that to me is admission they were wrong... Whether I'll get the postage back or not is another matter...

Its an ok Steelbook but not fantastic needed to be glossy to get that status
Aliens on front of the shines if held at an angle
Rest of the steelbook is a flat dull matte finish

Photo of the Steelbook beside the Alien Anthology Box Set shows how dull the finish is and would have been better if they used the Anthology Aliens Photo as this has better colour use

Love that anthology box set - still have mine, the only downside is the stupid ratings logo's - that's the good thing about steelbooks these days - no printed ratings logo's

I applied another coating of gloss. Will post some close up pics tonight. Please note that this is a poorly made Steelbook with not so high quality artwork. So you won't notice any drastic differences. I will be changing the inside as the current one is way too low rez for my tastes.

No surprise about the inside art since Fox love to use random screen grabs of the movie for the interior

I have no problems with the choice of the artwork but its too dark and low rez. What a wasted opportunity.

the front I oke but like you say the back would be a good picture if it didn't look like I printed it at home with lines but im happy with my result on my custom aliens

I own Russian, Uk and German Steelbooks of this series, and this looks to be my fave Aliens steel to date for me. But I still need to get it in hand...hopefully very soon.

I doubled up on this, one copy for my girlfriends dad. I love the Extended 2hour 30min version, it's awesome. So glad they included the extended cut, bad ass. Also, region free!!! the finish & image could have been a lot sharper though...still getting the whole series....

I just got an email to say they have looked into it and the item doesn't say matte or gloss and so I have to pay for the return. Checked the page and they have removed any mention of gloss... lucky I have my dispatch email stiil (says gloss). Will keep pestering them but they are in danger of losing my custom....

So they dispatch them without updating customers that the product has changed, and then LIE about the original description saying it didn't mention gloss when there is screen captures to prove them wrong! Utterly disgusting!

So this is officially not gloss anymore then? so much for 'this is how Fox do gloss' then. Well if this is their new matte at least it's an improvement over their previous matte finishes so something good has come out of it at least

After 10 days of two-ing and fro-ing about the lack of gloss, here is the final outcome. Zavvi offered me a 10% refund. WTF?
Tighter than a Mallard's arsehole, and that's watertight.

I have a screenshot that you are more than welcome to have. I clearly states gloss. Zavvi have also admitted to me that it went wrong.
