I'll be ordering this in the hope that the above images will be the final artwork. I already have the Italian Steelbook, so if this ends up being changed to the Brando image that adorns every other Steelbook release worldwide, I shall be cancelling.

The fact that this is described as a Special Edition gives hope that it will also include the extras disc. I'm still a little concerned, however, that this may end up as a single disc release, since it was only the Steelbooks released by Universal (Italy, Spain and Netherlands) that included the bonus disc. The one Steelbook released by Studio Canal (Germany) contained only a single disc.

It would be great if the Hearts of Darkness disc were also to be included but I'm even less optimistic that this will happen, since it has only previously appeared worldwide as part of the Full Disclosure Edition, none of the releases of which have been in the Steelbook format.

So, once again it's a case of waiting on Zavvi to update their listing. Hopefully, this will be before they start sending them out.
I agree it's a release we will just have wait and see if it's 1 or 2 discs

If it's only 1 disc then they need to remove from the listing special edition

I will end up getting this either way
It's just a matter of deciding if I keep my pre order or cancel and wait for a price drop

If they provided accurate details of the contents of the Steelbook before release date it would lead to decent amount of orders if it was at least 2 Discs

This would then end up a nice Steelbook especially if a gloss finish and include both Film and extras

Unfortunately it also seems that the steelbooks from the U.S. (2013 - Lionsgate) and Canada (2013 - Entertainment One Films) were 1-disc too.
]However these were not listed as Special Editions so I still live in hope . . . scratch that - with Studio Canal anything is possible.

Zavvi is also selling Apocalypse now Special edition ( includes Heart Of Darkness ). Product details says 3 discs and it's released by Studio Canal.

Logic demands that this steel also contains 3 discs :wow:

This is the listing for the UK Collector's Edition DigiPack released in June 2011, otherwise known as the Full Disclosure Edition.

I really hope that you're right and that the forthcoming Steelbook will contain all three discs.

Unfortunately, given the recent history of other releases, neither Zavvi nor Studio Canal seem to apply logic to their Steelbook business models.

Surely unrealistic to presume we'll get the 3-disc Collector's Edition.
Realistic to presume we'll get the 2-disc Special Edition.
Disappointed if we only get a 1-disc edition.
I'll be emailing Zavvi for confirmation on this matter one way or the other and no harm done in sending an email to Studio Canal as well although I don't hold out much hope of a reply judging by their lack of response to an issue I had with another recent steelbook . . .

RE: 3-DISC STEELBOOKS IN STANDARD SIZED STEELBOOK CASES:-
Had a rummage through my U.K. steelbooks but couldn't find any 3 disc steelbooks from Studio Canal at all - the closest I could find were 2 from Lionsgate (THE HUNGER GAMES HMV Exclusive 2012 and THE EXPENDABLES 2010). I mention Lionsgate because I read somewhere that there was/is a partnership of sorts between the two though I'm not sure if these two titles were released as part of that partnership . . . ?
I could only find a dozen or so other 3-disc steelbook releases by other companies - 20th Century Fox (5), Second Sight (1), Arrow (1), E1 (1), 4DVD (1), Warner Brothers (1), ITVDVD (1), Universal (2), Paramount (2), Sony Pictures (1).

Hi all,

I can confirm that this is the 3 disc version with Redux and Heart Of Darkness included.

Content will be updated soon.

Thanks

Wow, I hope that's right! If so I'll be replacing my Full Disclosure Edition (if this has a glossy finish). The inside art is typical Studiocanal crap and the back is boring, but I do like the front. The Italian steel is better though. That one has an embossed gold title and gloss finish.

Funny the site still says 1 disc for me.

Hmmm....link above shows the 3 disc, I actually went ahead and ordered.
Just looked again, disc shows 1, but description shows the 3 disc, I think someone said on here Zavvi alot of the time shows 1 for the disc spot, so who knows, wouldn't think they would put the 3 disc in the description if it wasn't.

Thanks did not see that right away, see it now in the description, the product details tab show only one that's what threw me off.

If the description info is correct and it's 3 discs

This Steelbook could end up been a very good release especially if it's a gloss finish

The extras alone made this release a good purchase and as bonus its a steelbook

I will 100% be getting this
It's just a matter of me to decide if I keep my pre order or wait for possible price drop

I used a 10% discount code so I might just keep my order but will decide closer to release date

It would though be cool if Studiocanal put one of the booklets inside as well but that might be expecting to much

That's what I call a Special Edition and in a steelbook too !
What's not to like?!
Thank you Studio Canal/Zavvi for including the complete content of the Collector's Edition.
No need to wait for a reply from S.C. and Zavvi after reading the updated info just now.
No cancellation of this after all - a top class release instead of a 1-disc disappointing release.

The icing on the cake after this excellent news for me at least would be the a simultaneous release of another steelbook but with the Brando image - this would give U.K. buyers the choice of two iconic images on the front of our U.K. steelbooks (for the benefit of U.K. buyers like myself who have yet to buy internationally).
The current image is perfect though (despite being a very familiar image to us in the U.K.) for this steelbook as other worldwide steelbook releases of this film all appear to have the Brando image on the front (U.S., Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain and Holland).
I would personally buy both and if money was tight at the time of release would sacrifice other 'less worthy' steelbooks though I suspect I would be in the minority buying the same film in different steelbooks . . .but, then again, 'Star Trek XI' - say no more.
