I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Just a quick thanks Wreck for all you're doing to ensure the future of UK and indeed worldwide quality steelbook releases. It's really great to have a link between the community and the studios/retailers instead of just 'getting what we're given'.

I want to thank you as well Wreck for making steelbook collecting still meaningful. I take back what I said about Zavvi if they are making a Star Trek steel with different art work. I still don't understand why they are still going through with the re-release though as that seems like overkill.

Since its general release my guess is they were offered some qty ... If you are a retailer and are gonna get in the "steel game" I doubt you wanna refuse one of the first things thrown your way .... So I wont fault them on that, and I just hope they work as hard with studios "to get things right" on future titles going forward. They seem very receptive of me and ideas I've been pitching so I'm excited a bit gain .. Obviously I was very saddened by the news of what happened to Play, and of course still am but this is still at least some good news in what was a great thing for collectors in 2012.

Hopefully Play can remain a "Player" in the steel game and I suspect they will in one shape or another.

hi wreck, i dont know how much power you have over slipcovers, but I really like thick slips that cover the bottom of the steelbook. This protects steelbooks from shelf-wear, and really helps when steelbooks are on display in brick and mortar stores

Hi wreck, i am a new member here and i never ordered a steelbook from Zavvi before. So my question is , are they good with the packaging and the delivering ( to Uk or to Europe) or my steelbooks will get lost or damage during the delivery and are their customer service good like Play, HMV, or Amazon. Hi Harry, when I have ordered the odd steelbook from Zavvi it has either arrived in a padded envelope or a cardboard envelope, but none have arrived damaged.
Wreck is currently working with Zavvi to change they way they package steelbooks, like he did so successfully with Play, however that did take a while and Wreck has said it will take a while with Zavvi as well.

If you go into The Blu-ray Steelbook forum a d then at the top there is a sub forum Retailer Zone there you will be able to read a out different members experiences with Zavvi.

how do people know them before hand?

It was announced 'Who framed Roger Rabbit' would be Zavvi Exclusive.

Is that still correct or will others follow like Amazon?

Also Play.com Released Lawless as an Exclusive but i noticed Amazon.de is showing same cover art to be released.

Can you please shed some light will this be any different?

Most folks just keep looking at the main steelbook forum here ... if something is coming out ... itll be found or announced there. There is a Release Schedule Thread ...

I'm on it .. and zavvi is on it ... we're inquiring ... so far we think its a mistake by them just looking at release schedule. Will let you know if otherwise.
