I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

I'd guess that HMV's Exclusives were taken over by Amazon, hence their entry into the Exclusive market, with Zavvi probably picking up Play's. That means Amazon going with 8-14k and Zavvi 4-5k. Just guessing.

Oh dear that worries me EEK! But do you think that skyfall sold so fast it had a higher print? I was thinking (and we may never know) it would be around 4-5k because it sold out so fast!

Thanks Wreck. Can you now ask everyone to quit their whining and Zavvi bashing and just give them a chance to redeem themselves?! It's getting verrrry tiresome reading the Zavvi thread and all the threads relating to titles even being sold on Zavvi!

I know Zavvi dont seem to have the fastest delivery but I can live with that, as far as packaging is concerned I understand from what Wreck has said this is being looked at...Folks seem to forget that until the 'new and improved' packaging was introduced, Play.com's packaging for steelbooks wasnt great and look how that turned out, so Im willing to give Zavvi a chance

My one request to them would be if they could spread things out a bit, if they release waves like play all due out at the same time it can become very expensive when there are a lot in the wave you want! but Im curious to see what they are going to offer in the future...

Wait until you have to deal with their customer service, their 'out of stock so we have cancelled your order' yet it is still available for purchase online, their 'we did not receive your return' etc etc. I've dealt with it, it's not good.

It isn't Zavvi's methods with steelbooks, its Zavvi in general.

Hey Wreck,

You don't have to give any specific names of titles but I was wondering if there are any other rare steelbooks besides Star trek being re-released or are in talks of being re-released? I just want to know about how many so I can decide if it's time to hang up the gloves or not.

I've said many times before, I've used Zavvi for a while now and not had any problems. I understand some people have had issues and that's fair enough, but it's not exactly fun reading for those who haven't to see majority of comments in any topic relating to a title that may be stocked by Zavvi. It's even worse if you're subscribed. They've said on multiple occasions over the last few weeks that they ARE improving their packaging, obviously that will take time. People here expect it to be instant and still continue to bash them. I received 2 steelbooks a couple weeks ago that were packed in a box with air cushions. Seeing this as a sign of packaging amendments, I posted about it, no one responded and instead continued replying to previous posts about how sh*t they are.

Anyway, sorry to venture off topic a little, Wreck. :emb:

What are the other top play titles other than Star Trek? Not many at all....I think. It is better to buy from FS, FNAC, TW n Korea.

Bit early to say this, give it a year, play steels are still pretty new :)

Enough contenders to skyrocket... Terminator, The Raid, IM etc

I don't think he can say until they're announced.

Wreck, when you say that the studios took the hit by reducing WFRR from 4k to 3k, what did they do with the other 1k? Perhaps a 1k HDN Exclusive with Booklet

My guess is that they only printed 3000 and took the hit that meant Scanavo charged them more per steelbook than would be normal for a 4K run, at least that's my interpretation of it.

I've been told this is not their intention .. and as it was a shock and surprise to many from what happened with Play and HMV ... it took me a while to get properly introduced to the right person at Zavvi. So while I know many werent happy with Star Trek there was nothing I could say or do to stop it as it sprung on me as well. The fact that more Countries might carry this also means nothing good ol' Wreck could've said or done to stop it.

I suspect it to have some subtle differences regardless. So personally no need to panic until "IN HAND".

Book of Eli FutureShop still sells on ebay for the price it did before the same art Best Buy release. stickers can prove what is an ORIGINAL and what is not ... Star Trek may take a hit in value , but over time it'll still be a very valuable steel. And if there are quality differences in regards to print technique it could still be just as valuable. Time will tell.

Zavvi said it is not their intention to be involved with other repressings etc. and now that we are on the same side we're making great progress in bringing you another great year of titles and quality steels that everyone can appreciate.

Packaging will get updated, and they are also working on delivery times. All forthcoming.

You guys put your trust in me to get the packaging right with Play.com and with great help from them and communication on both sides we got that fixed. It took time , but we accomplished this. Give me some due time and it'll get done for Zavvi as well.

Remember the slashed spines? That's been pretty much put to a stop too ... just give me some faith Ninjas, I wont steer you wrong.

close enough from my gatherings.

^Thanks Oh Wise One!

I'm impressed with how receptive Zavvi seem to our needs. I just hope their customer service improves now. Things are beginning to look good again for the UK! :)
