I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

I think with the news of HMV and Play people are looking towards this retailer to step up. I hadn't even heard of them until recently

Virgin used to have a rival high street shop called Virgin Megastores (pretty sure there used to be one in NYC near time square) but they sold the stores to the newly formed Zavvi in a management buy out way back in 2007. 2 years later they went bust and the high street stores went to the wall. However TheHut group (another UK company who run TheHut.com) bought and relaunched the Zavvi brand as an online only retailer since 2009.

I understand that Zavvi ship worldwide which will mean that a lot of the Steelbook exclusives you guys were previously unable to order from Play.com 'should' now become more accessible. Zavvi have even bought up Play's excess Steelbook stock and are selling them now.

Only problem with Zavvi at the moment is there packaging leaves a lot too be desired but they have recently said on twitter they are currently testing new Steelbook packaging so that is positive news.

Hope this gives you a bit more insight into Zavvi.

Are there any plans for the recently announced Japanese Warner wave titles to be released in the UK? I don't want to pay a fortune only to find out that Warner plan to release them later in the year.

Is Bad Boys really sold out at Play.com or will it show up somewhere else? I don't think you ever mentioned it being close to selling out, so the fact that it seems OOP now surprised me.

Are there any plans for the recently announced Japanese Warner wave titles to be released in the UK? I don't want to pay a fortune only to find out that Warner plan to release them later in the year.

I haven't heard anything ... but it wouldnt surprise me in the least. Not like any of those titles have printed Japanese writing on them.

Every retailer wants to do Star Wars but its always a fat chance that studio will allow. Anyone wanting to do something Star Wars has to get it approved back in Hollywood ... and that's where things hit the brakes. Heard nothing on any of those titles, but honestly if its titles that havent been announced then I wouldnt be able to spill the news here anyways.

After reading few pages of this thread, I'm just curious - where do you gather all these information from? Does your real life work someway associated with the steelbook industry?

I think that one includes a poster or booklet. That is what most FNAC releases include. (one or the other)

Steelbook is exact same ... hardcore collectors favor the FNAC editions over the regular French editions as the sticker and gift make it more limited and distinguishable by the sticker. Casual collectors will save themselves some money and get the regulars so they can afford more steels. However, most new collectors will choose the FNAC if buying at release as its usually not much more if at all and it ultimately becomes worth more. (in case they ever have to resell or want to later)

Until recently they had "sign up to get notified", now it says "Temporarily out of stock".
