I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Why is the US always so late to notify customers of a release? Whenever there is a Future Shop release that is the same as in the US, it is acknowledged on their website far in advance of US retailers. I just noticed that compared to other countries the US has a much shorter timeline from when it is acknowledged to be a Steelbook to release date.

Well I the IG steel has to be a sample Scanavo made for Alliance and when they decided to get the normal finish, Wreck got it through his contacts/job
Or someone bought some crackle lacker and painted it on a normal steelbook ...

Anyway, Wreck what about the Team America steelbook from play ? Has it been cancelled ???

Hey Wreck do you have any contacts with amazon UK?

...i was thinking, if HMV go belly up next year (please god/allah/budda i beg you LOL!) yeah if HMV go belly up, do you think Amazon UK would be able to get HMV's contracts?

I would really love to see them sharing new steel releases with play, while HMV rot in bankrupt administration :) :hilarious: :D :oohyeah:

The movie studios dont wanna see HMV go belly up ... Best Buy in the USA isnt doing so swell either ... while I love the convienence of online shopping itll be a sad day when all B&Ms are gone. Sometimes its fun to go for the "hunt". I would like to see Play get a chance at more new release steels tho. Amazon UK is seemingly coming around with more stuff tho.

Here's that National Treasure DVD Crackle as promised folks... I guess it was released in UK due to rating logos. Pretty cool looking giving the movie an old feel ... some post apocalyptic type movies could probably really benefit from this affect. ie. Book of Eli ;) The grey street shot.

Wreck,

Don't know if you see my post on the previous page about Play.com title stock updates.

A list of titles in stock with a stock situation next to it in the 1st post of this thread would be really useful for members.

Wreck, how come sainsburysentertainment are selling play.com exclusives? Surely "exclusive" means that it is unavailable within the same country elsewhere?

The Bourne Trilogy was riding high in Plays best selling list for quite some time without the apparent demand, maybe sainsbury were buying them up!

The universal wave was a timed exclusive ... older collectors will remember how Media Markt Germany used to have the same then amazon.de got them. I have heard however with these that what sainsbury will get aren't reprints and instead are leftover stock from studio. So still 4k in existence etc.

I heard that Play hopes to focus on more quality releases in regards to steelbook quality (not talking movies etc.) for catalog titles in 2013 so they dont anticipate to have many leftover stock situations like how they did with the horizontal wave.

I think they've learned a lot in 2012 so it should be interesting what all comes out in 2013. Tho I'm sure most of you guys can agree that we all knew the horizontals wouldnt go over very well even despite having awesome artwork.
