I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Hey wreck, long time fan first time asker :p

Was wondering if you had any pull with the powers that be that would release The World's End universal steelbook and see if they had plans to release a horizontal version to match the Shaun if the Dead / Hot Fuzz horizontal steelbooks and if they'll do a comic book reel heroes steelbook to match those release this summer.

Thanks wreck!

Kinda doubt it since they already went the other way and their are vertical steels for the other 2 as well. sorry. Tho I'll pass on the info in case they feel froggy.

Thanks for the check in. If you can urge then that both horizontal 100th Anniversary and Reel Heroes (which are vertical) fans want to each complete their trilogy.

Maybe they can include it in one of their waves of reel heroes sets

If you can ;)

Thanks man!

Hey Wreck! With the recent victory in art change for the Zavvi Wreck-It-Ralph, it made me think. When you look at certain steelbooks, does it give you a little extra grin knowing you helped certain movies come to their attention, or a really bad piece of art getting changed? Can you say what steelbooks you've actually had a hand in?

Braveheart inside art was my idea at least blue war paint battle scene

Worked on t1 in many ways

I give advice on a lot of titles to b honest. I think I've lost count. I think I pride myself more on titles I've stopped or helped change. Ie. reprints. Hard catching wind before

I'm sure I've probably inspired a lot of things but the real credit goes to the retailer product buyers who r willing to listen to me and our wonderful staff

Hi Wreck, can you ask the 'people that be' can we have more gloss steelbooks.

I know they are a bit more expensive to produce but they look better quality than matt, are more durable and less prone to scratching and paint chips

You should see more gloss in 2014. (In the uk) not sure I can speak on issue.

Wreck interesting read this unread, any info on why paramount suddenly switched from their super high gloss finish a la jack reacher to the new matte style that they've adopted for Star Trek steels.

Hansel and gretel was matte too but it did have spot gloss on it but Star Trek could have had that on the title but they opted to go completely matt.

Hopefully it has nothing to do with the error they had with jack reacher's missing paint streak???

Cheers

Out of interest, what are the finishes that we get you mention zero finish???

Hey Wreck, do you know why there are very few US releases this year?

Where's the love? It's so hard to find "mint" copies in store, when I have to import I'm so afraid of what it might go through on its transatlantic journey.

And to tack on a 2nd question for when you do read this, can you talk to the powers that be about some Breaking Bad steelbooks? Either individual seasons or one mega stupid jumbo sized one. I don't care, this show just needs the steelbook treatment

lack of gloss has nothing to do with JR. But more gloss stuff coming in 2014 in uk and perhaps more so 4th quarter idk. Cant really speak in depth on the matter at the mo'

matte, zero finish, gloss, silk, believe there is a couple more. lots of diff effects you see on only some steels. Crysis 2 (coolest effects) The Fighter CA, Appaloosa CA, THe WRestler CA (those 3 had some cool raised silk lettering effect) Spot gloss, and others like dual effects like IM2, Thor etc are some my favs.

Hi Wreck !

Any chance of seeing the wolverine or Hobbit extended release getting a steelbook treatment in The US or NA?

cant speak on unannounced NA titles anymore. Maybe hints every now and then :p

Hi Wreck, it looks pretty clear that the Indiana Jones Steelbooks won't be getting released at the end of this month, any news on the situation?

I've heard diff things within the industry, none of which I cant really speak on .... in which case cant say much bud. I'm sure they'll release at some point in time ... hopefully for all the fans sake! (myself included!)

hey wreck would you be able send the monsters uni poll to your contacts at zavvi so they can send it higher up because 83 votes to 8 with in a matter of days is crazy and really shows that we want change.
thanks matt

ok in future drop links in this thread of that nature ... I cant check every steelbook thread anymore with as much detail as I used to ... but I try to stay on top this thread more.

Thanks again wreck. Yeah I have fighter, papa, wrestler. Very nice steels from Atlantis. Havn't seen Crysis 2 so will have to search that now.

Was looking at 10,000 bc and titans last night. The crackle effort. Stunning finishes, such a shame they didn't do any more. I take it it was down to cost???

With manufacturing, have they trimmed down the thickness of steel used in these steelbooks, because feeling an old steelbook and a new steelbook, you kind if miss the old heavy gauge feel, and the old high pristine finish.

I've been told before they havent trimmed down the steel in the case, but I believe there is an option or something because they def have. Nothing beats the old embossed cases. Every now and then one pops up tho! Which is why I wonder if there is option if a product buyer truly asks for it.

crysis 2 is the most amazing steel I've ever seen. :) nano edition. crazy effects on it.

crackles are great, def must have in hand to truly appreciate clash of the titans.

Hey Wreck, What's the likely hood that we'll get Breaking Bad steelbooks?
