I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Hey Wreck, do you know if there's a possibility of any Dreamworks steels being released? I would love to have a copy of How To Train Your Dragon with some great unique cover art!

I think you're more likely to see Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon before you see Shrek since they still have new films coming through.

Hey Wreck, maybe you can answer this question. With the Zavvi release of Batman steelbooks, they reused art that had previously been used for home releases. All 4 pre-Nolan movies use the Batman logo with some coloring and effect related to the movie.

Why did they screw up Batman Forever's art? It really looks like someone accidentally swapped image files.

It completely tarnishes to collection, and personally was the cover I wanted to see the most.

Is there a chance they'll do a fixed release of Batman Forever with the right cover?

Hi Wreck,

Sorry to trouble you again. I've noticed a few of the UK steelbooks seem to have a new type of finishing. It was first introduced by Warner UK's Premium collection. It didnt affect the Japanese and Korean editions, for example Se7en.

Korea is my favourite here.

Why is it so poor? What type of finish is it please?

Its like a powdery matte streaky finish or something.

This has now spread to the Disney range that was just released.

And today, Day after Tomorrow from Fox has the same treament.

Hello Wreck,

Could you ask Zavvi if they could add some kind of a slipcover to the Pain & Gain steelbook saying that it is a Zavvi exclusive or something? :)

I doubt they would as it's really no different from just another Zavvi exclusive except for the print run. Zavvi have so many exclusives (and no doubt will have loads more in the future) that going forward it'll most likely have a cost implication for the buyer to offset the extra workload/logistics/materials.

Adding a cheap slipcover which states the number or that is a Zavvi exclusive, or just a sticker, shouldn't be too expensive. And if Zavvi cared about its releases or its customers, they would have done it. And it's not like they are not charging a premium price. 24 GBP isn't really cheap, I bet there are families/people who live off 24 GBP every week, so I guess I am not really asking much when I ask for a slipcover or an extra sticker. I can hardly believe that there are members who disagree with me, but maybe there are :).

The only thing that makes this exclusive is the fact it's the only one sold in the UK. The other 3000 will be the same exact steelbook from another country. How anybody will be able to tell the difference is yet to be said.

but how come everyone says there will be another 3,000
maybe there will be 10,000 , who confirmed that it will be only 4k worldwide?

it's the same cheap finish that all Library titles get in the US and Django Unchained. looks almost like it was painted on with a paint roller, my walls have the same effect.

To my Compadre Wreck
Any News or Hints at upcoming US releases:naughty:

2014 is supposed to be better. I'll go in more detail about this whole myth when it gets "better" and explain what happened at that date.

You're correct .... who knows how much ... could be 100k. I'm interested to keep my zavvi collection going esp if it were to have a sticker or something diff.

hi wreck, wonder if we can expect any other classic anime releases in the uk from Manga Entertainment. The Akira and Ninja Scroll steels from them are absolutly awesome, from the finish to the booklet. would love to see some other animes to follow like: Ghost in the Shell, Full Metal Alchemist Afro Samurai, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D, Berserk, Hellsing, Death Note and a lot more! is there maybe something in the making?

I don't disagree. It would be cool. But i feel it would set a precedent with all their other exclusives in the future. Why should one get it and not another? The cost implication I was talking about was if Zavvi release announce another 40 exclusives not all would be £24 (catalog titles which are still exclusives) but all would need a slip/sticker. Not sure they would deem it worth it. Just my opinion. Sorry if that didn't come across.
