I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Hey Wreck,

I'm sure ure aware of the controversy regarding title-less steels of late, most notably Disney's upcoming Thor: The Dark World.

now, there are rumors goin about that its being done to save on production costs for worldwide runs ect - even tho zavvi are also doni them and those are jus for uk i think - but anway i'd like to put forward a compromise for you and ure studio/retailer connections:

Let the studios have their title-less art on the front (which i agree can be prety cool when done right:thumbs:), but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD PUT THE MOVIE TITLE ON THE SPINE! EEK!

seriously, a steelbook needs the title to appear somewhere so that collectors/buyers/consumers know what it is! The vast majority of copies will have the packaging/slip binned within about 30 seconds of purchase! putting the tiltle just on the outside slip is NOT good enough! how do they expect us to organize a steelbook on a shelf if there's no indication to what it is!!!

lol, thanks for hearin me ramble, but please pass this info on - we MUST have the film title on the spine!

-EDIT-
somebody posted in the Thor thread that titles on a clear full slipcover (like Inception DE) was also another possible compromise, which i think is a very good idea

Hi wreck

Is it possible to any confirmation regarding Thor dark world steelbooks?

Rumour today is that futureshop will contain titles and be debossed but no confirmation?

Also, you said one country may have different artwork but couldn't say which. Has that artwork now been revealed (eg title on steel) or is it still to be announced?

Hi Wreck,

Just posted photos of the new Leon UK Steelbook and did a comparison shot between an early German steel and the UK one. I closely inspected the finishes and was wondering.

Comparison shots

Uk to German steelbooks

Its strange to see how matte finished steels have changed. On the german steel, you cannot see the paint streaks. Have to ask Wreck if they've changed the process. Be interesting to know.

I'd imagine it has already been asked but is there any chance of the halloween franchise being packaged in steelbook form, similar to the friday the 13th collection? Thanks in advance!

debossed, title on front and spine. Unfortunately I'm not really allowed to speak much on NA titles until they are "online" etc. Which is extremely frustrating as I typically know titles like 3-5 months in advance. Nice slate coming up. :)

Guess this is already known ... its out.

I actually just literally finally unloaded my Leon orginal ... surprisingly I never opened it. I thought it was gloss underneath ... :p So if its matte I didnt give it much attention. In any case one thing you should have noticed is how heavy it was compared to the other. The older steels used a thicker gauge steel(metal). Which make alot of the oldies feel much more quality like. ie. Hellboy 2 Germany , Death Race etc.

Havent heard nothing but im sure one day it'll happen ... one would think. Already seen a couple diff Halloween themed steels.

I assume he's kind of busy with ninja week.

This definitely adds even more to the plate! Lots of behind the scenes to make such an epic week successful! Tho other things behind the scenes soak up most my time. But I'm not complaining. It's fun. :)

Kinda hard to answer this publicly without getting in trouble. :p

as for titles to give you a bit of insight ... I think I know of roughly 30 titles to be announced soon. (but soon could be months away) That # is obviously always shrinking and growing as things get announced and I hear more etc.

there's titles that got announced in January that I knew of back in late September for example.

You have to realize its not for me to always be able to drop the news early ... so sometimes when I do drop news its been months in the making before I'm allowed to say. Just think about how its all set up and then it makes sense. There is the movie studio who works a deal with the retailer ... the studio has dates until they want something announced, but then so do the retailers ... so many checks go into place before finally everyone is on board and its ok to announce. Which is also why in many cases its not ever me announcing and its just forum go'ers scouring the net who find it and post ... because by the time the checks are lined up ... its posted/announced etc. Obviously I'm not always needed.

Sitting in the man cave right now im looking at my walls and see another title that will get another steel treatment this year. ;)

g'night!

Great stuff Wreck, the little insights into the inner workings are very interesting. The mysterious foe sounds like a definite 'splitter'. He'll end up like this guy soon enough......

Wreck. Do you know if there will be a better Steelbook release of Cliffhanger in the near future??

I really want the film but don't really want the poor German Steelbook release if another superior version is going to be released around the corner.....

Any info would be greatly appreciated
