So apart from the title issue with #26, the lists were in sync until the year 2000 with Dinosaur which didn't make it on to the UK list (apparently because it didn't do very well). I do recall my DVD copy of Atlantis: The Lost Empire having a sticker on it to correct the text referring to it being Disney's 41st classic to Disney's 40th classic...
Dinosaur (2000) was a production done by The Secret Lab (Dream Quest Images) and distributed by Walt Disney and is not considered a Disney Classic in the UK and is why it's not part of the Disney UK Classics Canon.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is Disney Classic # 40 in the UK that's why you would of had a sticker to correct USA numbering error been on some UK DVD releases

Winnie the Pooh (2011) is also not a disney Classic in the UK

i love Dinosaur hopefully someday we get a steelbook for it

It make no difference to USA members as their Disney Canon is different to UK :p

UK title is what counts as it's a UK release and USA title does not count it's that simple :D

The official UK Disney Canon applies to all UK Disney Classic releases in terms of what films are considered a Disney Classic and this also covers both a film title and the classic numbering.

Examples of differences between USA and UK disney Canon
Zootopia is USA title and Disney classic #55
Zootropolis is UK title and Disney Classic # 54
Basil The Great Mouse Detective is the title in UK
The Great Mouse Detective is USA title (Both USA and UK it's Disney Classic #26)

Dinosaur (2000) #39 and Winnie the Pooh (2011) #51 are not a disney Classics releases in the UK as per Disney UK canon

Disney Classic # 51 in UK is Wreck it Ralph
The Wild is a Disney Classic in the UK and is Disney Classic # 46 but is not a disney classic in USA
Disney Classic # 46 in USA is Chicken Little
Chicken Little in UK is Disney classic # 45

We’re saying the same thing here :) ;)

Just received my copy of this and it is a beauty

Same, mine finally arrived, 4 days later,
Wonder why the big gap for us all. Seems we all waited for this or TRDU after the other arrives days ago. Weird.

i love Dinosaur hopefully someday we get a steelbook for it
Pretty much never gonna happen as it’s not a recognised classic in UK and only ever had a basic, barebones blu-ray ameray release.
Don’t believe it ever even had a slipcase edition when many other titles have had reprint after reprint for slip variations

(Would love Dinosaur personally as I count that as a UK classic instead of the crappy ‘The Wild’ )
To be fair, I tend to prefer to follow the USA numbering as far as Dinosaur and the 2011 Winnie the Pooh go - so mine go in Classic order number, except for Dinosaur which takes Wilds place and the two Winnie the Pooh’s go side by side in semi-alphabetical order

yea THE WILD is just a bad copy of Madagascar.........As for Dinosaur i just love that film, as a matter of fact its been years since i saw it so time to watch it again :)

Still no sign of mine yet it was dispatched about 20 mins after rescuers and I got that Saturday

As for the wrongs and wrongs of omitting Basil from the title on the front of the UK steelbook it should be remembered that THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE was an unpopular title with the creative talent right from the time when Disney's head honcho at the time made the decision to change the title from the original BASIL OF BAKER STREET and they compiling a satirical interoffice memo listing similar generic titles for some of the best loved films in the classics canon, including:-
SEVEN LITTLE MEN HELP A GIRL aka SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

THE WOODEN BOY WHO BECAME REAL aka PINOCCHIO

COLOR AND MUSIC aka FANTASIA

THE WONDERFUL ELEPHANT WHO COULD REALLY FLY aka DUMBO

THE LITTLE DEER WHO GREW UP aka BAMBI

THE GIRL WITH THE SEE-THROUGH SHOES aka CINDERELLA

THE GIRL IN THE IMAGINARY WORLD aka ALICE IN WONDERLAND

THE AMAZING FLYING CHILDREN aka PETER PAN

TWO DOGS FALL IN LOVE aka LADY AND THE TRAMP

THE GIRL WHO SEEMED TO DIE aka SLEEPING BEAUTY

PUPPIES TAKEN AWAY aka 101 DALMATIANS

THE BOY WHO WOULD BE KING aka THE SWORD IN THE STONE

A BOY, A BEAR AND A BIG BLACK CAT aka THE JUNGLE BOOK

ROBIN HOOD WITH ANIMALS aka ROBIN HOOD

TWO MICE SAVE A GIRL aka THE RESCUERS

A FOX AND A HOUND ARE FRIENDS aka THE FOX AND THE HOUND

THE EVIL BONEHEAD aka THE BLACK CAULDRON
Wow, was not aware of the prank.

Reminds me of a conversation about what other movies would be called if they were just one name (post-frozen) after the recent trend of one word titles.

Sword in the stone - Arthur
The Lion King - Lions
Fox and the Hound - Pals (or something else equally as lame)
Beauty and the Beast - Kidnapped

Can’t recall any other suggestions., but you get the point.

yea THE WILD is just a bad copy of Madagascar.........As for Dinosaur i just love that film, as a matter of fact its been years since i saw it so time to watch it again :)
I wouldn’t even go that far(though wasn’t Madagascar made after The Wild?)

Dinosaur doesn’t hold up too wel visually if I recall.
I remember the real life backgrounds blending gorgeously with the CGi characters, but when I saw the blu-ray about 8/9 years back, and it looks a bit....cheap? Not sure of the word to best describe but it looked like a bad reversal of the animated bits in Mary Poppins(animation with real people on top).

Still want it as part of the collection but seeing as we will never see the wartime releases on blu, let alone steelbook, no one will ever have a full classic collection on blu-ray, sadly

Worryingly, still waiting for this- the postman has just been and still nothing.

As with many other people here, I received The Rescuers on Saturday, and had the despatch email for both of them sent out on Thursday.

Have tweeted Zavvi asking if they know what’s going on here- technically it’s still in the ‘expected’ window so shouldn’t panic, but doesn’t look like many people here have had their copies delivered yet.

Still waiting here too. Strange.

Never say never . . . we''ve already had 2 of the 6 'package' films (1947 and 1949) on Blu-ray in the UK (released at the end of 2015) . . . and of course the 4 releases during actual wartime (before and during US involvement) - PINOCCHIO (1940), FANTASIA (1940), DUMBO (1941) and BAMBI (1942) . . .

. . . and I expect to see the whole classics collection released on Blu-ray - even including the disastrous (for Disney) THE BLACK CAULDRON or as some have called it "The film Disney tried to bury" - at some point in the not too distant future.

This Steelbook turned out stunning, great design, great vibrant colours and thick paint (no metallic sheen poking through) high quality, good art choice, perfect debossing, just a fantastic release.

This and Meet the Robinsons are probably the best two steel books from the collection, such a shame they've started getting it right as we come to the end. I can only imagine how stunning but titles like The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas would have been with their original cinema poster artwork and this level of emboss/deboss and high quality paint and gloss finish.

In direct contrast however The Rescuers Down Under looks cheap as hell. Nice gloss finish, but terrible choice of artwork, bad cropping, and overall poor look. The artwork on the disc itself would have been a far better choice and given it the same deluxe feel as Basil.

I can only hope they get to titles such as The Black Cauldron, Dinosaur, Song of the South, we can live in hope right, the hugely underrated Mars needs Moms, Haunted Mansion and Oliver and Company.

arrived today. Is a stunning release but I have found one other issue aside from the correct U.K. title missing from the front. They are in the last 2 pics

I’ve never seen a border go through a image like this where the embossed image bleeds over the framed border. Looks really odd. They should of stopped at the ear of basil on the left and the lantern on the right

Reminds me of the wwa winter soldier bossing fail

That's is very odd. And looking at it now, I don't think this is an example of twinbossing (as discussed earlier in the thread). It looks like they just... cut through the image. For now particular reason. But the embossed parts are still at the same level as the frame border and the debossed parts are only set in one level deep.

According to zavvis twitter another Disney Classic goes live tomorrow at 6pm

I thought it’s just embossed but the title is cut out creating debossing. Don’t twinbossing have to be 3 layers like maleficent? This is like the back of roger rabbit but the other way round. If you get what I mean

Right. The title is debossed to the same depth as the debossed areas around Basil and the others.
