Seen these going for under retail price on eBay but seeing as how you've got nothing to fall back on if it arrives with a spine slash I guess I'll have to pay more with Zavvi.

Anyone bought a spine-slashed steelbook off eBay? I'm guessing it's not the seller's liability if it's under the seal

Have you had a spine slashed steelbook? You can see when it is still sealed so yes they are liable

I've seen them, my Jungle Book steelbook has one. These sellers could tell me to get lost and stop being so picky. Best off asking them beforehand I think.

No spine slash for me but embossing is mis alinged. Very annoying seems like it is becoming more common!

The embossing is misaligned on about half of the Zavvi steels I've ordered since xmas, so you're probably right. It seems more common than spine slashes nowadays (except with Bambi/Brave)

Ebay is the best option to ensure a mint copy, you will see actual pics of the item you're buying and you can always get a personal response if you contact the seller before bidding. And buyer protection is in place, much better than zavvi!

best place on earth to find out about the discount codes is actually this forum (HDN). keep checking the "price drop" thread on a regular basis, and you will find them in a time frame where they are still working.

Mine arrived from Zavvi today. It was my first time ordering from Zavvi and I was worried about the packaging, but it was well protected. No spine slashing. Haven't opened it yet to see if embossing is misaligned, I hope it's not.

I don't get Disney's obsession with the edges of their steelbooks.

They very rarely let the picture spill over the sides, preferring to just use a block colour. It's fine on 101 Dalmatians (red) and Cinderella (black), but why on earth is Brave white/grey when the spine is black, and Monster's Inc. also white/grey but the spine blue?
