People waiting for a bargain is what has killed most exclusives or special editions here in the US. IMHO if you want them to keep making Steelbooks of movies like this you need to buy it before they slash the prices because its not selling.

I'm all for getting a good deal but when it is a movie I really love I'm not waiting.

Sorry but that is simply not a good case for the steelbook cause. If they want people to pay up, they better make sure quality is high.

The ONLY reason why steelbooks are not really worth much anymore is because quality has gone down, there are too many releases and prices have gone up.

Yep, we know. I've been commenting that I hope it is cheaper on Amazon.
Not everyone seemed to at first, that's why I wrote that for the guy who said zavvi was making him poor. It is understandable though - to assume it might be their exclusive when the only link to buy in the OP at the time was Zavvi's.

Got the 3-disc criterion edition. Is this the director's approved edition?

Called it: www.hidefninja.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36484 :oohyeah:

Although I wish they had've used the colourful artwork from the standard Blu-Ray release. Would be really cool if they could somehow make the pink title glow like real neon!

And make the theme song play when the steelbook is opened

I'd rather see a digibook version with original storyboard sketches by Gilliam

As this is Fox, i'm guessing it will have a border and embossed title. If the title is embossed it will look pretty awesome (though I think if it was debossed it would look even better). I just wish Fox would use better quality finishes. Willow had a gloss finish, so why they are deciding not to use gloss on other catalogue titles when the demand is clearly there is a mystery.

i fell asleep on two occasions trying to watch this film. its so crazy, so much going on all at once. it tires you out. you literally have to devote yourself to watching this film to take it all in.

ultimately it is a good film, but its not the most accessible. the steelbook looks nice.

the film is by the same guy who made 12 monkeys (starring bruce willis), which is another 'busy/messy' film.

With FOX releases it seems hit and miss. Sometimes we get glorious glossy SteelBooks with borders & embossing, but other times they take the lazy route and give us a plain flat matt SteelBook. They're not really consistent

I don't think there's been any talk of a remaster rapta - just the same disc afaik. I Wasn't a huge fan on the first viewing of this movie but gonna give it another go as I think this artwork is the best in this wave so ordered today cos Amazon have it at the new lower price of £13.17.

One of my favourite films of all time. Saw it as a child so had a big impact on me. Heard the transfer's a bit dodgy but others say it's alright...shame we can't get one similar to the Criterion one without having to get a region-free player and having to import titles. No idea why more Gilliam in decent quality isn't available in the UK seeing as he's a national treasure (admittedly naturalised) in many people's opinion.

epic film! if it does get some gloss & embossing/de-bossing treatment will be a epic steel  either way still looks awesome!

I'm still on the fence about getting this,so i will wait for pics.

I currently have the french Digibook which has superior audio to the uk disk,i will be keeping that disk regardless.
