I can't believe there isn't a thread in here strictly for Beer. Well now there is.

So I'm going to Phoenix and this store is about 3 miles from the house I am renting. I need some recommendations of beer they sell. I'm looking for Hoppy beers please. I've had a few of them they sell but not allot. HELP ME OUT!

Thanks

BoB

one thing i wanted to check with you guys on: they had two bottles of the bruery cuir for $20. i knew it was one of their more rare beers (and was pretty surprised to find it in WI), but i couldn't justify spending $20 when i told my wife i would cut down, lol. you guys know anything about this beer? is it a super rare that i can't pass up?!

I would go for it, and if you didn't want it, you could probably trade it off for something. It's definitely something I'd like to try. If you go back, let me know and I can either buy it from you or get you some good locals from MO.

i would pick some up. Had BA Cuir recently and it was awesome. I imagine regular is really good too.

Kona Brewing Company from Hawai'i has my favorite beers from longboards, lava rock and my favorite wailua wheat!
So if you guys are ever in paradise, check'em out... Maui brewing company got some good ones too, including there awesome coconut porter for all of you dark porter lovers!

Just received my Upland Lambics I've been waiting for since August!!!

I stopped of at Schlafly yesterday, talked with the head brewer for a little bit, and gave him a pair of my combat boots that I never wore. He likes to wear combat boots and kilts when he's not working in the brewery. I guess because of this, I can buy growlers at a discount. :scat:

Off-- NICE deal getting the growler discount. that dude sounds kinda freaky, combat boots and kilts? lol

Here's the results of my latest craft hunting trip:

(from right to left)

Central Waters Brewhouse coffee stout: this beer is awesome. it surpassed founders breakfast stout in my book. was very surprised actually, and i almost didn't buy it when i went to the store. they had a bunch so im hoping they last until my wife lets me go shopping again :p

Dogfish Head Buton Baton: so, ive never had this beer as DFH stopped distributing to WI. the owner of the store I went to said hes been holding it for awhile; they also had palo santo marron and olde school barleywine on the shelves. they were all $4.99 for a 12 oz so i decided to only go with one. gonna age it a bit more and see how it is. plus, this one was the least ABV as I dont like heavy boozy beers

Bells Batch 10,000: another beer he has been holding in the back rooms. funny thing is they had batch 9,000 too. went with two of the 10,000 because he recommended it. i havent had either, but i know splax has some. how do you like it splax?

Tyranena Hop *****: their latest BGW beer. i had this in the tap room and it was very good. ive been looking for it for awhile in stores, and i finally found some. not as hoppy as some of my fav dipas but still solid

New Glarus IIPA: speaking of dipas, this one is my FAV. not over the top bitter, but solid citrus hops. love love love this beer

Black Husky sproose joose: so this is from a nano-brewery way up in norther WI. just a guy and his wife brew this beer and a couple others. its suuuuuper sprucy and very very bitter. very good still and very unique. ill def buy some more

so there's my catch. Off-- i didnt end up going back to the store with the Cuir from the bruery. to be honest, i dont like that store as much as the other stores so i dont go there often. even though they have a much bigger selection, its kinda just like your average big liquor store (called discount liquor). i prefer to support the smaller specialty stores in milwaukee. im sure ill make my way down there again tho and ill see if they have any. do you want anything else in case they are out? (or if they still have it that i can throw in?)

Ive had them both and as of now im not a big fan of either. Hopefully with some age they will get better

On a side not here is the score from my recent trade and probably one of my last for a little while.

I've been drinking these at my friend's home since I got home. We just got the rauchbier today from Bamberg. The Fuschbeck is the local beer from one of the two breweries here in Saulzbach-Rosenberg. Pretty good stuff. The Fransiskaner Dunkel and Weisber both are great.

I had some stuff at Nurmberg today, but I can't remember the name though. So far so good drinking good freaking beer. :scat:

I'm a fan of the Fransiskaner, but the AS Rauchbier is so good!
