I can't believe there isn't a thread in here strictly for Beer. Well now there is.

So I'm going to Phoenix and this store is about 3 miles from the house I am renting. I need some recommendations of beer they sell. I'm looking for Hoppy beers please. I've had a few of them they sell but not allot. HELP ME OUT!

Thanks

BoB

been off the beer trail for awhile, but i swung by my local store to see what they had in stock. got some decent haul, nothing crazy.

4 pack of 8-bit ale (off sent me one of these, really liked it glad to see it distros to WI)
sixpoint mixer 2x resin, apollo, and bengali tiger
southern tier creme brulee (for my wife)

and also got a bottle of GI juliet. not sure how rare it is in my state, but there was a limit 1 bottle. it was $18.99 which made me hesitate a bit for a new beer that i haven't heard much about, but i figured it has blackberries in it so why not.

i passed up two bruery beers: white oak (14.99) and Fruet ($29.99). i think id really like Fruet, not sure how rare it is, but for $30 its gonna take a lot for me to bite. plus the store had plenty in stock.

let me know if you guys think i just run back there and grab that Fruet ;)

Same boat. Haven't bought much since DLD. No trading either. Heading to asheville next week I may buy some and ship it home.

The fruet is 100% barrel aged and an anniversary beer. Probably won't see it again. It is a lot but all Bruery beers are. I would snag a bottle.

I've been off for a little while now too. I've been getting the house ready for the baby and working a little on the weekends so I can have time off during the week. Plus, I've got a batch of homebrew that turned out really good, so I've had a few of those lately.

Mobius - I'm probably going to need to set up a trade with you around October if you are interested. Diva is going to want some Coffee Bender when she can drink again.

Me and and my brother gone take the train over to Copenhagen(I´m dragging my brother with me and paying his ticket)

"Af amerikanske bryggerier er repræsenteret Hoppin Frog, The Bruery, Green Flash, Lagunitas, Lefthand, Great Divide, Three Floyds, Brooklyn, Lost Abbey, Goose Island, AleSmith.
Danske: Mikkeller, Det Lille Bryggeri, Evil Twin, Djævlebryg, Scullery, Herslev, Nørrebro.

Nice pick up. I like the 4D, and envious of the Cantillon.

This weekend I finally got around to drinking the New Glarus IIPA that Mobius sent me. :scat: Very good.

I also picked up Collage this weekend. It's a collaboration between Deschutes and Hair of the Dog. It's a blend of Deschutes' Dissident and The Stoic mixed with HOTD's Fred and Adam, then cask aged. This thing comes in at 11.6% and has a "Best After" date of 4/30/2013.

wow, a best after date ... never heard of that.

---------- Post added at 08:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:47 AM ----------

The Fruets were 29.99 even at "The Bruery" in CA ... so its not marked up, so I def think you should get it ... That video I showed with the samplers ... out of all of those, the fruet was my fav ... I bought 4 bottles of it! Awesome beer, after the first glass you will be buzzzzzzzzzin

Thats really cool, is so seldom that my friends come to visit me since I'm so far away ... but I'd love to have a nice stash of beers for us to enjoy when they do come. I wonder if I can find some best after stuff in my locals. Thx for tip.

I'm sure you could. I've got a little cellar going, and not everything has a best after date. I've got some that I know will age well, and others that I probably won't notice much of a difference.

celebrating finishing my third year of med school with some friends last night and we opened the dark lord off sent me few weeks back. was incredible! so sweet and smooth.

gz to another year mate, will you take beer as payment for medical care ?:oohyeah:

ha, right now ill take any payment since im hugely in debt!!

picked up a bottle of founders frangelic mountain brown yesterday. and one of my local bottle shops said they would hold a bottle for me when they get theirs in on friday :)

my first rarer beer purchase in awhile. glad to be back!

Debt? Yup, You're American! :) Glad you let off some steam on some good beer mobz. I had some Sopporo yesterday, my fav japanese beer.

Totally new to the thread, but I loooooove me some dark beer.

Anybody have some suggestions that aren't too expensive? I'm a huge fan of a good black n tan. Best so far that I've had is made with Yeungling as the base. Too bad I can't get any outside of PA.

Not sure if Steelbookonly is being snarky due to beer preference, or the Black and Tan paramilitary group that helped suppress the revolution in Ireland way back in the 20's.... Pretty dirty bunch of fellas, if my history lessons were right.

But as a beer thing... Guinness and Bass seem to be the more 'original' style black and tans... but go with whatever you like. A milk stout like "Steel Toe Stout" from Ska brewing might make a good half of a Black and Tan.

ADDED:

What do the Irish call a Black and Tan, Steelbookonly?

we call it half and half, but use smithwicks instead of bass alot better taste

Bass and Newcastle make the most common black and tans around here. Sometimes flat tire too.

Yeungling actually packages a black and tan though that used to come in a 30 pack of 16ozers.

It's the only way I enjoy Guiness. Can't stand the stuff by itself. Reminds me of coffee
