Official Synapse Press Release/Info on Disc/Extras:

A 3-DISC (BLU-RAY, DVD & CD) LIMITED STEELBOOK™ EDITION OF DARIO ARGENTO’S HORROR CLASSIC! ONLY 3000 UNITS PRODUCED!
Italian terror master Dario Argento elevates the Giallo genre to new heights with 1982’s TENEBRAE, a darkly humorous, futuristic and notoriously grisly horror film many consider to be one of his finest works.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!

This all-new 1080p high-definition release of TENEBRAE is presented here, for the FIRST TIME EVER, with rare English insert shots never-before-seen on any optical disc release! Starring John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA), this slasher-horror classic also features an amazing music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin).

RAZOR-SHARP SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:

    • All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from original uncut negative elements, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1
    • Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both
    • Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh
    • Original international trailer
    • Booklet containing liner notes by Derek Botelho, author of THE ARGENTO SYNDROME, with additional technical notes by Vincent Pereira and Don May, Jr.
    • Chapter Selections
    • Collectible Steelbook™ Packaging by Silver Ferox Design
SPECIAL FEATURES EXCLUSIVE TO THE BLU-RAY DISC INCLUDE:

    • Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via seamless branching
    • Feature-length in-depth documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by High Rising Productions, chronicling the giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genre. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Luigi Cozzi, Lamberto Bava, Richard Stanley, and more!
    • Original UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequence
    • Alternate opening credits sequence
    • Japanese SHADOW theatrical trailer
INCLUDES A BONUS COMPACT DISC (19 Tracks) featuring an all-new 2015 remaster of the TENEBRAE motion picture soundtrack, containing additional tracks not included on the original 1982 album.

Well I'm finally on here. Too bad I missed the pre-order craziness. Quiltface is sold out, so I guess that leaves two for me to chose from. I like the Aseo one more, but I like the coin with The Dark Inker more. Not sure which one I'd want. They're all amazing in their own ways, though. And I can say that... I've seen all three in hand. ;)

Haven't been on HDN in a while now. Had no idea this was a thing. Love Argento, and have seen 2 of his films in theaters the past couple weeks. Glad any of the versions were still available. Just snagged the ASEO (which happens to be my favorite too). Don't even care about the coins at all.

I didn't wanted to sound negative in my earlier post but in the end, without a region free player, this is a useless release for me. In first place I collect movies, not packages. I know a lot do it the other way but this is not my way of collecting.

With being #1 in this line and a movie I really adore, from a director I really adore, with a soundtrack I really adore and with a Ninja on the spine, I joined #teamquiltface this night when it was back in store. Glad I got night shift and was awake at this time. I can't buy a movie I got zero interest in, the interview, to support HDN and than pass on a movie I really like...

Should I just buy one to hold onto? It's Region A which is useless to me across the pond.

Someone please explain to me why none of you who complain about regions don't just buy an all-region player, which can be purchased for as little as the cost of two limited edition steelbooks. I honestly can't fathom this.

Took the plunge...

Huge congrats to @digitalbabe @Wreck @tridon @apsmith21

I'm not a massive horror fan (and Dario's Horror films are the real deal) but I'm proud to support the great work HDN do. These look great and hopefully with the success of these it will lead to other equally stunning Steelbooks.

Hope after tonight the HDN crew pop the champagne and party like a Ninja
Just hope its third time lucky for me to get Zombieland.

P.S. If other Ninja's are on the fence, If you can afford to, support the site you love.

That may be the case in the US, but it's not in the UK at all. Finding a region-free BD player here is ridiculously expensive (average cost I've seen is £350+ which works out around $530 USD).
Edit: Just seen you can get some dodgy hacked ones from eBay for around £120+, needless to say though they're all 'seller refurbished' and you have no manufacturer's warranty.

This is why I watch blu-rays via my PC instead of a hardware player though, as I use software to remove the region locks instead (even the software is usually pricey though, thankfully a company recently gave theirs away for free as a promotion).

Holy crap! Seriously? Will American sellers of all-region players not ship to the UK?

I seriously hate this for you guys. I would go nuts if I had to pass on numerous releases because of that.

I just checked the place that I've always ordered my all-region players from, they're called 220-Electronics. They ship worldwide, and they currently have a Sony player for $95. Their website looks like something from the 90s, but I promise they are absolutely legit, I've ordered at least 5 region-free players from them over the last 15 years (both DVD and Blu-ray). I don't know how much they charge for overseas shipping, but whatever the total amount is, it has to be way better than 350 pounds!

Has anyone else noticed that within the Quiltface BS, there is zero red on the Black Challenge Coin but if you view the actual pics supplied in the OP, there is a red band around the outer edge of the coin :D See below...

Very happy to see a splash of red has also been given to Quiltface's Black coin as I hadn't even noticed before and thought it was all black :naughty:

Hats of to HDN for this selection as I am a Argento fan (the early ones...)
Everything looks top notch and for you that havent even seen the film you are in for a treat.
I missed out on the get go, but I have the Arrow slip edition and will hold on to it.

@adarkcorner I hear what you say and I think exactly the same most of the time with the option of disc swap. But like @MrBMT said it's really expensive and not easy to find one. Even to find some information on it is complicated. I asked in some places and nearly don't receive any answers. But I'm working on that and I will get one when time comes, no doubt.

And with this release the big extra is the new transfer. I would love to see it restored but I can't. With so much releases you need to go back sometimes to the main reason why you collect. For me, the movie. Most of the time I easy persuade myself to buy something even if it's not fit my criteria. I still prefer arrows artwork for the Steelbook. But like I said, I copped it because it's HDN. Who can imagine starting a Steelbook Forum and years later you release your own exclusives. I spent so much time here in the short period I'm active, I enjoy to talk to people worldwide and everyone is heart full, helpful and friendly. Those characters got left in this world today. It's for HDN and they went all in for this awesome movie!

Region Free-players are rare to find within a reasonable budget if at all. And when importing, you have to add expensive shipping and taxes which would for your example (the Sony player) be 80$ Shipping (which is crazy EEK!) plus approx. 40$ in taxes (for German buyers) for a 135$ product (95$ does not include region-free which is a 40$ option it seems for this shop :greedy::greedy:) from the US. 255$ overall. And that is pricey as well (while no 350 pounds) and a bit risky. Because if you need support, you won't easily get it if something should go wrong with the player which can't be fixed by you alone.

But this package looks so good, it's worth getting even if the BD is of no great use for the moment.

Damn, I totally understand the complaints coming from you Europeans now. I'm usually embarrassed about being an American (when visiting Europe or interacting with you guys on the internet), but in this instance, I can say I'm glad I live here!
