Official Synapse Press Release/Info on Disc/Extras:

A 3-DISC (BLU-RAY, DVD & CD) LIMITED STEELBOOK™ EDITION OF DARIO ARGENTO’S HORROR CLASSIC! ONLY 3000 UNITS PRODUCED!
Italian terror master Dario Argento elevates the Giallo genre to new heights with 1982’s TENEBRAE, a darkly humorous, futuristic and notoriously grisly horror film many consider to be one of his finest works.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!

This all-new 1080p high-definition release of TENEBRAE is presented here, for the FIRST TIME EVER, with rare English insert shots never-before-seen on any optical disc release! Starring John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA), this slasher-horror classic also features an amazing music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin).

RAZOR-SHARP SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:

    • All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from original uncut negative elements, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1
    • Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both
    • Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh
    • Original international trailer
    • Booklet containing liner notes by Derek Botelho, author of THE ARGENTO SYNDROME, with additional technical notes by Vincent Pereira and Don May, Jr.
    • Chapter Selections
    • Collectible Steelbook™ Packaging by Silver Ferox Design
SPECIAL FEATURES EXCLUSIVE TO THE BLU-RAY DISC INCLUDE:

    • Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via seamless branching
    • Feature-length in-depth documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by High Rising Productions, chronicling the giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genre. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Luigi Cozzi, Lamberto Bava, Richard Stanley, and more!
    • Original UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequence
    • Alternate opening credits sequence
    • Japanese SHADOW theatrical trailer
INCLUDES A BONUS COMPACT DISC (19 Tracks) featuring an all-new 2015 remaster of the TENEBRAE motion picture soundtrack, containing additional tracks not included on the original 1982 album.

@Noodles
24 hours later and still can't make my sodding mind up. Clearly if I had the cash I would go for both inker and Aseo but I'm swaying more towards the Aseo now. The actual mock up at the booth behind the glass looks really good and bright for the Aseo and I thought the inker would look brighter due to the beauty shot but it looks a little darker (maybe the lighting but that would mean the Aseo is even brighter !) ohhh my god this is tough. Lol

my goodness, just make up ur decision already before it goes OOS.

Quick question if you can answer,
Are the single versions numbered?
I can see it says the tripacks are but wondered if the single copies are?
Also what kind of effect is the metallic on the card? Does it make it brighter or just shiner? Only ask because there is more colour on the art cards for inker and quiltface compared to Aseo but I'm starting to really like the colour scheme on the Aseo and wondered what the finsh was like on that?
I remember a certain amount of cards with the interview were supposed to have a metallic paint but I don't think I see any photos of it.

Man this complicated lol

Remember they're just prototypes though, so I'm not sure if the "real" versions will look any different/brighter. There's also a lot of white on the Aseo version, which obviously reflects light and possibly gives the impression that it's brighter. I honestly don't know for sure though... just thinking out loud.

Here's a new photo that Wreck posted anyway, plus the one from before (in case anyone missed it)...

Yeah there the two I've been staring at for ages now lol.
You're probably right (about the white and light)

Are the art cards slightly smaller in size with the Quiltface variant or is it just an illusion in the pics provided? I'd assume they're all the same size, right?

Wish I could give you a proper answer dude, but I only know as much as the rest of you at the moment. As a guess I'd say they're all the same size... I think it's just the angle that the photos are taken (and possibly the brighter colours versus darker colours playing tricks on our eyes) that make them appear slightly smaller.

I know, i know. Lol
Just curious before I purchase

Yeah there the two I've been staring at for ages now lol.
Man, still deciding LOL @Flloydo ;) Admit, it must be a hard decision now Quiltface has sold out...;)

Team #Quiltface :naughty: LOL

But no honestly, there is no wrong decision when it comes to these amazing packages. I simply chose Quiltface as my favourite as soon as I layed my eyes on it :wow: All 3 look like incredible packages and each have their own unique style, go with your gut feeling if you're to buy one @Flloydo :)

Hey guys-just an illusion-all cards are the same size, and are high quality silk screened (such as that you would find on a print). Each has a metallic ink included as well.

Are the single versions numbered DB? Like the tripacks?

Cheers

Thank you also DB for the clarification on the art cards :D Loving the look of this release more and more!:drool::drool:

Just finding out about this, I hate that it went live on the weekend since that's when I'm away from my computer getting stuff done. So I missed the Quiltface one unfortunately. Maybe it'll come back in stock...

Initially I thought the Black Inker was better than Aseo's, but after looking at them closely I much prefer Aseo's. Black Inker is kind of a mess. Aseo's is more aesthetically pleasing.

Anyway I love that HDN is doing a horror line (my favorite genre) with Synapse Films (an outstanding company on par with Arrow - their Demons steels/transfers are amazing) of a cult classic Dario Argento film that I've been meaning to revisit for years. I almost bought the old Arrow disc recently. I tried watching the film years ago but couldn't finish it due to the terrible acting and dull plot, but I'm looking forward to watching it again since I'm a fan of Suspiria, Opera, and to a lesser degree Inferno.

i keep staring at the flowers on the back of Dark Inkers, for me they were the swaying vote as that is what Argento is all about ; beauty in the face of danger, menace and blood. i LOVE IT!! the anticipation of this long release period may kill me, but a grave will not keep me from this release. Seriously I cannot commend you guys enough on this release. Also since its in Synapse's hands, a long wait is always expected since they're perfectionists; but anyone with their "Demons" steelbook already knows that. Lets just blow through this winter and get to spring!

Thanks for the positive comments, we really appreciate it-a lot of effort went into each and every aspect of this edition, by the HDN Staff, our artists, graphic designers, matching coin creation, and of course at the center of it all, and amazing disc by our friends at Synapse.
We appreciate the support. Any remaining stock can be purchased exclusively in our shop at shop.hidefninja.com. Thanks all! #HDNhorror

I ordered the Dark Inker version mainly to support the exclusives:) I've actually never heard of the movie (I've heard of the director). I like all the designs though. I'll admit though that if it wasn't the first of the black label exclusives I probably would have passed....

Well that was an incredibly hard decision that has taken over a day lol but I'm now officially apart of #TEAMASEO

originally I wasn't going to go for it but after seeing the package shots and wanting to contribute toward and support the site and also continue with my HDN collection I just couldn't resist. It was a tough one between Aseo and inker.
Happy with my choice.
Thanks HDN and @Wreck , @apsmith21, @digitalbabe and everyone else involved.

I'm now going to sell my body !
