Ryan Reynolds explains how Deadpool corrects the mistakes of X-Men Origins: Wolverine

EW reports:

"
Second chances don’t come often in Hollywood, but Ryan Reynolds had the opportunity to create a new beginning for the foul-mouthed Deadpool.

Though the obscene, unconventional character briefly appeared in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a film Reynolds matter-of-factly refers to as “a movie that was shot,” fans of the Marvel Comics antihero can expect to see a portrayal more true to the comics when Deadpool hits theaters February 2016.

“Deadpool appearing in Origins is not the Deadpool we are representing in this film, in any way shape or form,” Reynolds told EW’s Jess Cagle and Jessica Shaw Saturday on EW Live on SiriusXM.

Carefully choosing his words so as to not offend famed-clawed star Hugh Jackman (“[He’s]a very powerful man – he orders airstrikes from his iPhone”), Reynolds explained that “we didn’t quite get Deadpool right, so this is kind of an opportunity to get the most authentic version possible on the screen.”

“I love that it’s dark and twisted and rated-R and nasty and you get to do all these things that these gigantic comic book properties can’t necessarily do,” he said.

Reynolds also doesn’t rule out the merc with a mouth appearing in other Marvel films down the line.

“Cross-pollinating that character is probably not without it’s significant challenges but it can certainly be done.”

Listen to the clip below to hear the Deadpool star explain why they also wrote a second script for the film, and what it is about his costume that separates him from all the other superheroes."

I usually can't stand Reynolds, but I honestly believe he was born to play this role. Can't wait to see the full trailer tomorrow! :woot:
He struggles when he isn't in raunchy comedies.Ryan was awesome in waiting and few other comedies then he fell off for some reason. This should bring his Career back to life, and one of the best comic book characters to life as well.

The first time I ever saw him in anything was Two Guys and a Girl, which I actually liked at the time... although I can't even stand him in that now if I try to rewatch it lol. I think what really made me dislike him was Blade Trinity... I found his character to be really annoying. Then I saw him in a few other things where he just got on my nerves even more. I didn't mind him so much in Adventureland, and I really liked his character in The Voices, so maybe he's finally growing on me. I've never seen Waiting, but will definitely check it out!

It was adventure land that won me back over with him and I loved his performance in buried. Funnily enough it was blade trinity that made me hate him for a while. Also really liked him in amityville horror and I thought the change up was a great comedy and hidden gem. Really liked him in the voices too and I just can't wait for deadpool. He's perfect for it and it really shows he's putting his heart into this role. Bring on the full (hopefully redband) trailer

I'd forgotten about Buried... I didn't mind him in that either. Unfortunately, Amityville Horror wouldn't be my kind of film whether he was in it or not lol. The trailer for Change Up never had me sold, but maybe I'll check it out at some point. Really can't wait for Deadpool! He's obviously loving every minute of playing the character. Hopefully the film won't disappoint. :ohno:

From Ryan's twitter;
"Tomorrow #CONAN premieres the #Deadpool red band trailer. It’s so NSFW, our TBS rating will be TV-MA. OMG, so many acronyms."

So, I take it that we will not see this online prior to Conan's show tonight?

I couldn't remember if Reynolds played one of the two guys, or the pizza place...
