i thought this looked like S*** from the pics but after going in store and having this in my hand it actually looked a lot better in person. This steelbook isn't ver photogenic

and for those who are picking this, the bottom and corners have a lot paint chips, so examine them closely and happy hunting

This looks a bit better in hand than in those pics but Im hoping the UK version is glossy and/or embossed because theirs is released by Sony. Sony always releases quality finished steels whether it be matte or glossy.

Matte finished Steelbooks are seldom camera friendly. Few that still looks good are Zombieland, Evil Dead, Machete, Black Hawk Down and District 9 but they would have looked even more better with a glossy finishing.

My copy has small paint chips on three of the four rounded corners. Were not visible at first because of the J-card. My Target sold out of the 10 steels they had within three minutes and I only got one because a guy let me have one of the two he was going to purchase.

One Target in Albany had no copies, and the people there said they didn't even see any for them to put out on display. I then went to Richmond Target, and they had a good 20 on shelves in the front and in the rear.

Great job team in providing your feedback of your store visits no matter the number or state of the steelbooks. This is important in my opinion because this is only the second new movie steelbook release for Target (someone please correct me if I am wrong). I am sure this is being watched very closely for future bids and releases.

Solution...take DVD disc out and use it as coaster for a nice cold beverage. Put the bonus disc in its place....VOILA!

Actually when my ultimate watchmen from the WB shop came damaged they sent me a replacement copt for free, I asked what about the broken copy and her suggestion was to use the disks as coasters

Depends on your metric. IM 2 was a new release, but was a metalpak, so if you are counting just new steelbook releases, this one can be thrown out. :movie:

For my fellow steelbook collectors in the San Francisco Bay Area, the two targets at Serramonte and Colma have about 40 steelbooks between the two. However, i noticed many of the steelbooks at the Serramonte location has spline slashes and paint chips.

IM2 indeed was a new release but alas it is a star metalpak case, not a steelbook

Also, those bumps on the back J-card are glue lumps not security tags in the one I opened. Anyone else not finding the security tag? Anyway, be mindful in how you store sealed copies.

im2 also came with ALOT of issues. the metalpack was not sturdy, there were broken clips in side in almost all of them but you'll never know till you open it

sorry to go off topic... anyways back to django, if your in the pasadena,ca area both stores and the one in alhambra still have stock when i was there an hour ago. they were kept in those clear plastic cases and i had the manager open about 20 of them to check for paint chips and so forth (there were roughly about 5 in MINT condition)

my target had 14 copies all of them had visible paint chips but one(mine), but man come on! really! another one with bad quality!

I just swapped out the two disc tray for a three disc holder, and while piecing everything off I noticed that the steel itself is poorly constructed. The folds of each panel are too short to snap over the plastic tray entirely, so it pulls away when you close everything shut and leaves a gap. Plus, there's a lot of scratches on the interior edge that folds over the plastic.

Kinda lame, but hopefully steelbook making will get better the more times we get these releases.

@Bluprint: Great video, man! You sure know how to sell the steelbook. I like your enthusiasm. And I it has grown on me a little bit but there's still plenty to complain about in my eyes but it's no where near a new FS Spider-Man fiasco.
