I cancelled Target pre-order and I will buy it in-store. $4 cheaper!

Doesn't Target adjust the price as they ship the order? I recall them doing that with my Hunger Games pre-order, which dropped in price. Can't remember if they did it with my Bourne Legacy though. I think I'll keep my online pre-order and still grab one in store. I know the packaging Target uses isn't always great so I'd like a back-up, just in case.

I've always had to Call it in and get it adjusted

Hey guys I am new here and I am interested in getting in on the group buy. Unfortunately i need to post 30 times! I don't want to spam any pages so I was wondering if there was a way around this?

I really enjoyed this film and I have a very small steelbook collection of my own. There are many I would love to own, but being a university student makes it difficult. However, I have set aside money for this for a long time. I really like this art over the Future Shop one and I also love how there is no French on it.

Any suggestions on how I can get in on the American group buy?

No other way, except to get to 30 posts. It's not too hard to get 10 posts in a day, just don't spam. And welcome to the forums.

Well I guess I will try that. Is there a deadline on the group buy? Like if I don't get in on it before the release date will I miss my chance?

You have plenty of time, the list is short at the moment and there does not seem to be a cap on the maximum number of participants or copies. Bear in mind that with shipping to the UK for example it will be around US$44 each.

He meant $44 for each steelbook including shipping, not $44 for shipping each steelbook :hilarious:

Yeah of course; I guess I didn't say it clearly. What I was hoping for was under $40 total, since the Future Shop version is less than $30. As I said, I am a university student on a tight budget and I really prefer this edition.

Totally disappointed at the .com. I went to cancel my copy and of course there is no cancel button. So I email them, and they say they "can't because of order processing", and mentioned that you have 30 minutes after you place the order to cancel it.

They also mention if I don't want it to just refuse the shipment. Doesn't seem like good procedure as they are going to lose $ on this transaction when I return it to the store.(unless it arrives flawless)

I'm going to talk to HQ when I'm back and see if there is anything I can do to get this policy changed, but really. The .com and stores are two different entities.

Also. It's cheaper to get the US version to Canada then it is to get the Canada version to the US.

I checked my order on target.com and it wasn't there. I entered my order number and my email and they sent me an email with a link to my order, and then I was able to see my order. I was able to view the order directly through the site up until today. Is that how it normally works on target.com?

Target has got to have the oddes ordering system ever. The last steelbook I ordered I remember them cancelling the order just out of nowhere without an explanation. I didn't mind as much as I was able to get them in store for cheaper, but I really think there is something wrong with them.

Between not automatically price matching, the whole ordering business, and no in store pickup option, and this is just for steelbooks let alone all the other exclusives they run (ie designers who create cheaper clothing lines for them)

Did your order show it was cancelled? That's what I'm not sure about, if they cancelled it, or the order just clears out after a certain time. I searched for all orders in 2013 in my account and my order didn't show. When I used the search by order number feature, then I was able to see my order.

This would have been so much better if Best Buy had it. In addition to all the things you mentioned, they limit you to 3 in store on new releases, so you have to trick the system, or go to multiple stores if you are looking to get a few copies.

Honestly I can't remember , but that order doesn't even show up.

My Django order is in the system, but I had to get a new cc recently cause of a fradulent charge so it seems there is an issue with that order when I log in. Though I think I'll cancel and not re-order. It's fairly easy for me to get copies in store on release day.

I no longer order from Target.com as they cancel orders regularly without providing notification. To those who are not aware how their system works, when u pre order an item, they place an initial hold on the funds. This is then released as they say they do not charge until the order is ready to ship. However....they will place multiple holds to ensure there are funds to cover the pre order. This is what creates the cancellations as if your balance is flactuating, then they place the hold and there isn't enough to cover the pre order, they cancel it. You pretty much have to make sure those funds are always available for the multiple holds and unholds they will perform before the order is finally processed and shipped.

I suggest using your credit card to pre order. I dont get why they do this hold and release of funds. Would be better if they just took the moneys outright.

This must be the case because the funds keep going in and out of my Pending transactions repeatedly. One minute it's there and then a few hours later it's not. Strange behavior to say the least. EEK!
