Not the same as every business. If I have a problem say with say amazon. They answer reply and deal with it. Zavvi customer service stinks. Most companies worth their salt will develop, grow respond to customer needs. Zavvi just don't want to know. One of the biggest complaints for example I Hear is someone wanting to change their card details for whatever reason in an order with zavvi. You can't do it. You have to cancel and reorder if it's still available. And so on and so....... The list is endless
They should have stock. It's releasing today.Ignore the Sold Out for now
This happens with Zavvi when release date arrives and it's not in stock yet their system sometimes lists as sold out
As soon as Zavvi get the stock or get an updated release date it will reappear as available
Not if they don't have the actual delivery of the stock yetThey should have stock. It's releasing today.
If they don't deliver on time, then they deserve to go bust for not being reliable. Zavvi should use companies that are actually going to stick to their promises rather than let everybody down. Not if they don't have the actual delivery of the stock yet
This happens a few times when stock does not arrive can be release date change not put on the system or late delivery they list it as sold out when the release date as arrived
It's not the first time it has happened it has happened a few times before
Sometimes it's a release date change that needs updating and then it shows back available to pre order
Just because you see a release date on Zavvi or Amazon that does not mean your order will be despatched for release date that can only happen when they get actual delivery of the stock
When they get actual delivery of stock after pre orders are shipped they then re list as buy now if stock still available
Second sight releases and a few other distributors releases it happens every time when they don't have the actual stock for the listed release date the listing goes to sold out and only after they get delivery and start despatching it changes to buy now and listed as in stock
They will despatch customers pre orders when they get delivery and then after that re list as available if stock is still available
They have done the same with peaky blinders steelbook it now showing sold out you can expect the same happen later today or tomorrow with Luther Steelbook until they update the system to show a new release date or get actual delivery
Not every distributor delivers stock to Zavvi for release date on time sometimes they are late or other reasons
If they don't deliver on time, then they deserve to go bust for not being reliable. Zavvi should use companies that are actually going to stick to their promises rather than let everybody down.
I doubt it's the BBC at fault, more likely the company making the steelbook casing. If it's delayed by a year, I'll probably cancel my order and send Zavvi a complaint.I imagine there's been a production delay, rather than there being a tonne of stock sitting in a warehouse just waiting to be collected.
There's no release date showing on Zavvi's website, only the one at the top of this thread. So technically they don't have to send it out, although an email with a new estimate would be nice (remember the Indiana Jones delay? Over a year). Even if it is today, as long as it was posted today then they've kept up their end of the deal. We're so used to receiving things early, it's easy to get annoyed when things are late. Remember, it's a release date, not an arrival date.
When I worked for Blockbuster, we had these issues all the time. Some distributors would get us their titles a week or so in advance, others (usually Disney) insisted we received it on release day. That meant 9 times out of 10, you'd have to wait 'til midday before you could rent or buy it from us (we had to process it) which would annoy some customers - rightly so.
The BBC are still new to the steelbook game, so let's wait and see if they get better.
What you really mean is, their crappy system just cannot cope when faced with this type of situation!Ignore the Sold Out for now

Unfortunately that's always been the case with Zavvi - they never email customers to advise them of a change in release date.Release date has changed to Monday 11th April:

Shoddy customer service to not even bother to email customers and tell them about the change.
BBC releases in the UK are distributed by 2 Entertain Video
From the 2|entertain website (http://www.2entertain.co.uk/):Actually, they haven't been for a while. I think it's now either BBC Enterprises of BBC Worldwide.
When 2|entertain stopped, the DVD releases gave the option of double-sided covers with the new purple logo on the retail side but the old 2|entertain logo on the reverse so collectors could maintain consistency. They even left the BBFC certificates off the spine on the reverse side (DVDs and Blu-rays don't actually need them by law - the spines are too thin) but put them on the retail side.
That's crazy. You'd think they'd listen to customer feedback.Unfortunately that's always been the case with Zavvi - they never email customers to advise them of a change in release date.
I have given them this feedback on numerous occasions, but to no avail.
From the 2|entertain website (http://www.2entertain.co.uk/):
"Originally formed in September 2004, 2entertain Ltd is now fully integrated into BBC Worldwide’s Consumer Products division. 2entertain will remain a label for non BBC product and continue to distribute content from some of the UK’s top independent producers, broadcasters and leading talent.
