I ended up with the French tin simply because of the spit editions over the three discs but this is one nice looking steel though.

So in summary (and I don't agree):

I didn't buy it - it looks s**
I don't have it in hand - it looks s**
I don't like the movie - it looks s**
No 3d disc - it looks s**
Not gloss - it looks s**
Credits written on front - it looks s**
Too expensive - it looks s**

Why not copy and paste the above into all treads? I personally would like to hear the opinions of people with the steelbook in hand.

I appreciate criticism, but I'm so bored of all the constant, boring, moaning.

@sigil, only problem being its a tin not a steelbook.

I'm happy we finally got a dredd steelbook. It doesn't have 3d, it isn't 3 disc, its not gloss......it still looks good to me. For those maoning about the price, this costs £25 shipped within Japan. The issue is the cost of postage from Japan to the rest of the world.

Personally I'm looking forward to this. I would like to hear about the PQ though. Its only 2d, so should be better than the UK release.

Off course, if you really want it in a Steelbook then this is definatly one too get. If you want the best edition and aren't too bothered about the packaging then the French version is better. We have a lot of different kinds of collectors here, some will prefer one over the other, each to their own!.:)

To address each comment.

I did buy it - it looks s***

I haven't received it yet - but many people think it looks s*** (see credits below)

I loved the movie, I have the US 3D version and the FNAC tin (that is starting to look much better than the steelbook in terms of value for money and quality - see too expensive below)

No 3D disc - s*** (I appreciate not everyone has a 3D setup, but if they can produce a 3D/2D disc in the USA, and as I thought Japan was at the cutting edge of technology...)

No gloss - reserving 'judge'ment

credits on the front - definitely s***

Too expensive - compared to the regular US blu ray of Dredd at $15, or the FNAC tin, or even the regular French tin, it's overpriced s***

I believe people have the right to voice their opinions if they aren't being rude or objectionable. It's not that difficult to skim past these oh so boring moaning posts. Fortunately there are people that will buy any old s*** if it has japanese writing on it so I hopefully won't lose out when it goes on ebay.

Lol, I wasn't suggesting one person had all those complaints, more that they are the most common. It sounds like you really don't like this one though growly :)

Everyone knew in advance there was no 3d disc, so you have decided to see all this because of the credits and mat finish before you've physically seen it?

Fair play, your money, your choice. I personally don't like the French tin due to the sheer size. If this steel looks good in hand its a keeper for me. Ignoring the fact that it is Japanese, its the only steel out there for this film so instantly desirable (to me) as I collect steelbooks of films I like.
