I have to say that the quality of the steelbook is much better than the bullet one, but all of them are not 100% minty mint if inspect them really carefully. Now the problem is not about the condition, it is if you can find a copy at all. Some members even want to buy the two heavily dented copies off me.
Now I am having the problem myself that is I can't get the replacement of two special edition sealed copies with BLUFANS since they are completely out of this.
any my group buy members care about the open copies?

Well since they are being a retailer, they should do like the retailers who hold back X amount of copies for replacement issues. Instead someone like you who is high up in all this doesnt even have 2 mint copies. Oh well, pass a long the info and perhaps they will learn for Rio. I understand there is learning curve for new retailers.

I have one of the first 500 and it weighs 8.0 oz. on my digital postage scale.

Mine just arrived today - from ebay Canada (not the EUR 170.00 one), in perfect condition, no dents.

Weight is 8.1 oz or 229 g.

Is this the weight for the steelbook with or without booklet?

I am soooo tempted to open it.

I don't know, I like beautiful steelbooks as much as the next guy (probably much more considering I'm constantly broke because I biuy way too man of 'em) and this is probably the most beautiful steelbook ever - but seriously, who actually likes that movie? What if "Pretty Woman" comes out on steelbook, "Fried Green Tomatoes" or "Bridget Jones 2", do I have to buy these as well then? Just saying.....congrats to everybody who has this - it truely is a beauty...

I haven't seen this movie yet so I cannot comment. But there will be occasions when you get the steel not for the movie. I think a mojority of people got this was not for the movie. It is because it is limited to 1000, it is made in China, a country of culture, blufans exclusive and you can rest assured there will be no re-releases. Has a beautiful white effect (not many made like this that easily defeats the white JPN steelz in quality). The gold chinese characters that gives this steel a 'special' feel that it is made with quality and was not rushed out to the market. The steel even has a written certificate to confirm the number. Most will agree that this has potential to increase high in value in time to come. For me I am priviledged to own one because there are a lot of people out there that would want this.

It is all thanks to Kevin and Hidefninja that has made this steel available to us to order. Without this forum we would be chasing this on ebay. Everyone here that owns this is lucky to have this, especially an exclusive that does not ship abroad from China.

Well i haven't seen the movie myself yet but i don't think you can compare those movies with Farewell My Concubine, which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, BAFTA and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film

I'm sure you are right and I'm also quite sure that winning the Palm D'or is usually the top criterium for somebody to order a steelbook .

I don't know, I'm probably just jaelous cause I don't own this and never will, but the idea of this sitting on an alphabetized steelbook-shelf in the middle of "Fantastic Four 1+2" and "From Dusk til Dawn" makes me giggle every time.

Finally received mine and few others for friends. I would say the QC is rather bad.
Some of the evidence.
So, my friends here. Please be patience and I'll get that fixed, just hold your horses for a little while.
As most of them are with manufacturer paint chip, I think it's still acceptable to me. But these are too much to swallow.
