It is a shame if the print run is only 1,000 copies as this title could probably sell a lot more. I understand why Eureka would do it though, a lot of their older titles were available for a long time and for cheap prices. It is probably why they stopped releasing Steelbooks for a while. If this is the only way that releasing Steelbooks is viable for them then so be it.
I can understand as to why some of the previous steelbooks struggled to sell as lot of them where not mainstream films even though a good few of them are highly regarded films but they are not in the same league in terms of sales as you would get for this film.

Fright Night though has a huge cult following and is why it Twilight release sold so well in USA on 2 different releases

It's not as if this has had a UK blu-ray release before it's first time UK release and has brilliant extras that are worth the purchase itself beside the film

They will see how much of a bad decision they made when they see how many of the amaray sells which I presume they will be doing also at some stage

I ordered 1 for £22.50 when it went live by mistake, I cancelled it about 10 minutes after it went out of stock (the last time today) so there will definitely be one coming back up so if I didn't cancel till then maybe there are more people that haven't cancelled their original order yet.

How many uk steelbook's have only had a 1,000 print run that hasn't been split between other countries? I'm just thinking that if that doesn't usually happen maybe this title will turn up in other countries or the print run is actually 2,000 and its gonna go on sale again?

Even the Blu-ray is more than the steelbook on Amazon. A huge cult, very limited print run, only one release. The demand will drive the rarity. Zavvi knowing Zavvi have probably planned this trick already and will have a nice 500 tucked a few weeks later.

That does happen yes with other film studio releases a shared print run between various countries but the big difference with this is Eureka release are UK only and any retailer abroad selling Eureka release are UK imports not a local release with a separate print run.

They are all the same pressing The German release is identical to this one and the USA one. It's the extras that make some editions the selling point.

We need low print runs to get the excitement back into the steelbook game. Alot of people collect on rarity alone. People like rare things. The health of the steelbook market is on life support and this is the shot to wake it up again.

Like back in the old days again when we used to have the very rare DE releases.

1,000 copies of a FRIGHT NIGHT steelbook is just ridiculous especially when there are 2,000 each for less mass market steelbooks such as DR. CALIGARI and METROPOLIS 2001 which will both be hanging around for a while :banghead:

If 5,000 has to be the total print run of these 3 Eureka steelbooks then the division should be thus instead of the reported amounts :
- 1,000 for METROPOLIS 2001(2,000)
- 1,000 for Dr. CALIGARI (2,000)
- 3,000 for FRIGHT NIGHT (1,000)

No printable comment available from me about this nasty habit of releasing steelbooks half-an-hour or more before the correct "live" time of 6PM U.K. time . . . or, maybe, a quick gif if it's allowed:-

. . . with the IT steelbook yesterday night maybe better described as a "f - - - - - up two nights"

Did you not get an order for both of them?

My first Zavvi order going on 2 years. I'm not surprised that they still know how to please their customers :4/

Missed it again :sorry: took me 6mths to get a £160 refund the last time I dealt with zavvi and that left a sour taste in my mouth. This just tops it off with their total incompetence.

How exactly is the health of the steelbook market on life support? I see no signs of this. Maybe the market of buying steelbooks from retailers and then reselling them secondhand is on life support, but the retailer steelbook market appears to be doing just fine.

I did man thanks

I hope you got yours.

Can't believe it only got a 1000 print run. Crazy

Yeah, I got mine.. I was one of the lucky ones.. makes up for the It fiasco where I had to go to ebay. I kept almost missing steelbook's when zavvi would put up their steels live time before pm, so now I always come on here at 5pm instead and just keep checking the link, not sure they've ever been on time.

So happy your got an order in:joy::thumbs:

I really can't believe that this is a print run of a thousand  I hope thats a mistake and more will go up.

Zavvi are saying they are out of stock but I know I cancelled my original order after this went out of stock and sure many others did too so at some point these have to go back up to order and I hope those who missed out today can order this at retail price without having to turn to ebay.
