it's not meant to be his walkman, its A walkman, the walkman doesn't matter. the most significant part of the cover is the awesome mix tape. it's the SOUL of the film.

So you think the best way of representing the soul (once the camaraderie and character interplay is discounted) should be represented visually, when it's a soundtrack?

the simple fact is, the people who don't like it dont matter. its not made for them. i'll tell you who loves this art, james gun. & thats all that matters. this image sums up what the film is...to it's creator. the art resonates with him, & it resonates with me, & thousands of others like the film does.

Did you even read what you have posted?
I think the steelbook community know what they want in a design, and I doubt Zavvi are releasing 5000 steelbooks for James Gunn's personal collection.

this is what i mean, proof you've missed the point.

you're thinking very one dimensionally about the film...shocking i know, which is what i was saying, a reason you and others don't appreciate it. the makers of the film wouldn't see the film like you do. it's like watching princess mononoke and only seeing bright pretty pictures. my memories of the film isn't the fighting, or action, its the soul of the film i recall.

quill is easily the main character, and main focus in the film. he is what luke skywalker is to the original star wars trilogy you can have an ensemble with a main character. you may love groot more but you cant deny the fact the film is centrally about quill.

and that is the point you missed...and that's why the standard edition exists for those who don't like it.

LOL...you really think James Gunn likes the artwork, the guy couldn't even take the time to spell Steelbook right.

They most likely saw the negative reaction and got James to showcase it on his social media website saying he loves it so people like yourself can do exactly what you've just done "Well James Gunn likes it". The film is for everyone, we are all Steelbook collectors here, people would of loved to own this Steelbook but they screwed up. Now your telling people it's "not for them".....little closed minded don't you think, who are you to tell people what's not for them.

Fact is if they really wanted to do the Walkman design they would of least taken the time to do the ACTUAL Walkman. You talk about how Quill is easily the main character yet you wouldn't want to have the number one item which is personal to him in the film to be on the steelbook.....just an average walkman. At the end of the day if it's just any old walkman what's the point of the design.

Look people don't like the artwork, a lot of people by the look at it, if you want to buy it, fine go ahead we aren't going to tell you what to do and what to like but least have some respect for the collectors who have waited a while for this amazing film to have a fantastic looking Steel only to be disappointed.

Wow, you don't sound pretentious and stuck up at all.

.

didn't know he'd made any reference to the art on social media I don't follow that kinda stuff. My assumption came from the fact the whole idea of the cassette tape, and the significance behind it was something he injected into the film once he gained creative control of the piece. He wanted something to act as an emotional anchor to help people become invested in characters who are on the surface bad people. the walkman thing is pretty big to gunn. I recall an interview with feige and he said when gunn presented his first draft he drew a little walkman and earphones on the front. It's his personal watermark written all over the film. you should already know that. it's pretty well documented.

I mean you use the ol' they only changed cause all the complaints. did people cancel...yes, did people pick up those cancellations...yes. is it sold out....yes, will it remain sold out after a few months YES (it may go live again after launch like aladdin but will remain sold out afterwards). they don't care, it still sells. they'll just use the fuss to sell another steel.

the film is for everyone, but this particular special edition isn't. that's not being closed minded far from it. I didn't like the star wars steels but i didn't partition for them to change it , or do away with it. I just accept it's not for me. and wait for something that's more suited to me to come along.

down the line they'll release a new edition, with more generic poster art that all the new users on here can grab instantly, that won't be for me...I definitely won't start moaning bout it.

Is it possible to use artwork that is more generic than something that has almost zero reference to the film contained within? The artwork could be use for pretty much any film, it is as generic as it comes.

Please God No!!!! IMO a Marvel film should be able to be easily identifiable buy anyone who hasn't even watched the movie yet. I mean come on a dam Walkman? LOL. We want the hero's on the cover!!!

Just think how out of place this steelbook will look next to other marvels. I think it needs to sit next to Paranormal Activity 3.

Well if it was so big to him then I highly doubt he would "approve" a crappy design of that walkman for a steelbook....or sorry should I say "Streelbook". I should know that? Urm...ok then.

Did I really say they would defiantly change it because of the complaints. I'm scanning my previous comment and nope....don't see anything relating to that.

I'm sorry this " particular special edition" isn't for us? A steelbook community....you are really saying a steelbook of an amazing, fun, colourful film is not for us? Wow man....just wow. They are supposed to have a design which will appeal to the majority of us, without forums like this Zavvi would most likely not even be "Home of the Steelbooks" would they. Oh and as for the Star Wars steels they were nothing like this, totally bad example man. You want to know why you didn't make a petition for them to change it or why anyone else did? Because it wasn't that bad....UNLIKE this.

As I've said if you want to buy it fine but don't act all stuck up and make us look like the minority on here because we're not. The Poll on the other thread proves that.

The thing which bugs me is that people who don't like this have cancelled HOWEVER if they did change the artwork I bet you wouldn't cancel your order, you'd keep it and would most likely be fine with the change in the end. Do you see how chnaging the artwork could, and I say could make more people happy. I havent seen anyone say "If they change the artwork I'll cancel my order and never buy a steelbook from them again".

"with more generic poster art that all the new users on here can grab instantly"

Are you trying to say that only new/recent users don't like this...I honestly don't even know what to say....wow.

Correct, please keep any feedback regarding alternate artwork in the Guardians of the Galaxy Feedback for Disney thread, and not in retailer threads. Thanks

I'm not a full slip collector, have only a few. But even with a 1/4 slip in asian writing or egyptian hieroglyphics can't save this. Too many great things in this movie..like Thanos, the Collector, The Guardians, etc... and we're getting a dumb cassette player? This time, I'll wait for anyone with a new art or a entirely and colorful, full slip for the sake of my eyes. :bag:. If Zavvi sold-out 5K with this. Kimichi's, NM or BF's.... whatsUp?

Wasn't you the guy that partitioned HARD to get the wreck it Ralph back artwork changed because you didn't like it?
