This would be true if they hadn't ruined the concept by using the wrong model of Walkman and ruined the spine with inaccurate buttons. The key to a design like this is the detail and that's what lets this down. The execution of the design is great but the design itself simply isn't good enough.

To be fair I doubt that Sony would allow Disney the rights to use the Walkman design.

Totally agree. Or the steelbook would have cost a fortune to pay for the rights. I think the steel looks great.

I thought his might end up being the worse marvel steelbook but I actully think its really good in hand, better than iron man 3.

For me a steelbook must make the effort to do something different and original making it more desirable and giving me a reason to spend more money on it. GOTG is a perfect example of a well done steel and I'm really happy with it.

To be fair I doubt that Sony would allow Disney the rights to use the Walkman design.

All the more reason to instantly ditch the cassette player concept the second they realized they couldn't use the one actually seen in the film.

Not entirely true as the design they've used is still a Sony walkman design all thats missing is the Sony and walkman logo, they could of done the same thing on the design that he uses in the film which I believe is the same but blue

Perhaps Zavvi are planning an all must go "sold out" Steelbook promotion for Tangled, Army of Darkness and GOTG?

To be honest I don't see why not, it played a significant role in the film and would have been great marketing for Sony. Sony could even have capitalised on it and made an mp4 player in the same colour and rough design although maybe a little smaller and preloaded with trailers and songs from the film. Unfortunately Sony don't play well with others just see Spiderman for proof of that. Their blind greed gets in the way of smart business decisions which is a real shame as this would have been marketing gold.
